Makes For A Solid 85" HDTV Bargain
While I've had several plasmas and a potpourri of flatscreens I've never had an OLED. So, when I needed a HDTV for our pool house I was thinking about an OLED. With OLED I know it's close to any current 2024 state of the art. But I could not rationalize spending more than for a 65" OLED. I really didn't want a 65" HDTV for the pool house. I wanted a 85" model. That was a bit of a problem too because 85" quantum dot featuring local and/or mini LED dimming HDTVS (the kind that can stand up to OLED comparison) are in the 3K+ and up range. In my homes basement I have a 86" LG with quantum dot tech and area LED dimming...but that one was around 2K a year ago when I got it. The current model by LG was a bit more. Enter Sony. I remember in the late seventies/early eighties the gold standard it TV was the Trinitron. Over the years Sony has risen and fell and they're currently not just riding a rise, but continuing to ascend. This brought me to this HDTV. It's the absolute lowest priced model by a major manufacturer for its size at the moment. And that combined with it being a Sony interested me. I pulled the trigger and I couldn't be more pleased. I won't go into the technical stuff, but I sat down after a slow setup and was blown away. This HDTV really delivers. It's very bright with a wide angle of view. It is not one of those overly reflective screens that you have to juggle room lighting around which is a plus. In the end, though, it's the resolution and color that wooed me. Just amazing considering the size and price. I may not be as critical as the videophiles that obsess over minutia, but I know what looks really impressive and right. This set looks impressive, it does colors right even out of the box, and at the price combined with the fact it's a Sony. Well, I'm more than happy with this set. I do have a sound bar and for movies and music I highly recommend this as a required add-on. That's about it.

Great picture and sound, no problems.
We originally bought a different brand, which failed quickly, repair attempts failed, got a refund. Having a Sony already in a different room, we decided to go with Sony again. Great picture, really good sound for TV speakers, no issues. Set=up was straightforward, quick and easy. Slightly more expensive than some competitors, but absolutely worth it. Ya get what ya pay for - highly satisfied.

Cheap. Alternate Brands Must Be Better: Update 11/03/2023
Revised 09/19/2023 I bought: Gvirtue Universal Remote Control for Sony TV Remote, Replacement for All Sony LED OLED LCD Bravia 3D HDTV 4K 8K UHD HDR Android Google Smart TV, with Netflix, You Tube Button and Learning Function https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z9B7SXX?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image WOW! No lag. Way more buttons to get where you want quickly. Did I say no lag? Throw away your Sony remote that came with this TV. It'll kill you! And you don't need to point it at the TV. It's IR but a cleverly placed LED lets you look straight at the remote and still get the button's press received by the TV. Did I mention no lag? The IR LED is so power-full that the signal bounces off ceilings and walls. This remote makes a cheap Sony TV very acceptable. /End Revision I've owned Sony TVs all my life (76yrs). They are more expensive but worth it. This is the first cheap Sony I've owned. And cheap it is (Stupid of me as this is like bottom of their line). Setup was excruciating. FÏinding the AC plugin was well not easy. Very poor instructions. It says much when you need to read the instructions (no manual) one page that folds out and out and... And I needed a magnifying glass to read it. I think the AC port was shown but the quality of the diagram/print was poor. Google TV. A joke. No instructions. I wanted to add Sling to my Home page. No way I could figure it out. Google TV was supposed to limit the amount of steps/scrolling to see/find what you want. Not so. A mess. Not intuitive. Irritating lag. Picture quality good. Adjusting screen parameters just fairly easy. I believe I've found 3 to 4 places where settings are made. Really? Changing inputs is not clear. As I write this I do not know how to do this. I did it once but don't remember how I got there. I'll stumbled accross it again I suppose. Instructions please! All in all very disappointed in Sony even for a cheap set. If I ever buy another cheap TV it won't be a Sony. Sony: How hard would it be to have navigation on a cheap set the same as your more expensive ones? Cheap Sony TVs have bad navigation. Spend another $1K with Sony to get a slick interface. Thanks... Ken Update 11/03/2023: 2 stars -- 1 star Bluetooth paired devices volume control via remote gets stuck on one volume. Only way to recover is to reset the TV. All settings lost. Google TV interface freezes ~twice a day. Sling app crashes regularly. Thanks... Ken

Sony Bravia quality at an astoundingly low price
This tv replaced a slightly smaller, wall mounted 2014 Sony Bravia, which gave us an opportunity to compare picture quality, sound, ease of remote use, etc. It was a real eye opener. It might be odd to start with the remote, but honestly, my husband can't stop talking about it. Easy to use and logical placement of the buttons made it a hands down winner. As for the tv, the new screen (which, to be fair, has a higher resolution than a 2014 model) has a sharp, crystal clear image. The speakers are strategically placed to direct sound beautifully, so much so that the new tv's sound set at 26 was louder (using same video for comparison) than the older model set at 42. Instructions were clear; tv mounted quickly on the wall by one person. Google walked us through the installation in about 10 minutes. Spent the most time trying to decide which screen lighting we liked the best. Opted for the brighter at this time. Between the price and the quality, I don't feel you can go wrong with this model. It's a great tv for a smaller family room/kitchen area. FWIW, we have a 65 inch OLED Sony in the living room. Surprisingly, the picture quality isn't that different. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this tv. I haven't read the other reviews, but in my humble opinion, what's not to love?

Excellent Sony picture, garbage interface and internet connect.
The picture on this television is excellent, it’s very close to my much more expensive Sony 85K series gaming television. The interface can be a big buggy at times and since purchasing in December of 2023 I’ve had to physically unplug the television twice due to it locking up. Other than that I am extremely happy with it as a bedroom television and would buy again. UPDATE: 8/19/26 As stated above I really liked this television up until the last few months since it’s decided to go haywire. It looses internet connectivity non stop. Locks up constantly, and will not reset unless you go back to default and start the entire set up all over again which takes about an hour or so partly because I have to add then set up several apps, and the fact that this televisions interface is now clunky and painfully slow ever since Google/Sony forced a AI update upon owners several months back. Since that update this television is nothing but frustrating and unreliable. Could be a coincidence, but I doubt it. I just ordered an Amazon Firestick max 4K and will be resetting this television to factory, then only putting it on its most basic settings since the $30.00 firestick will now provide the working interface. This television cost to much money to have only less then three years of reliable service. The Sony name sure doesn’t mean what it used to when it comes to quality and longevity. I still love my 85K television in my family room, but I don’t think I will be buying another Sony again. My kids have 8 year old cheap Amazon fire televisions that cost around $125.00 and they still work with zero issues. Not a happy with Sony at all and I cannot recommend buying this television anymore.

Hard to Please:-)
When it comes to electronics, I’m very hard to please. But this product was far and beyond my expectation's. I purchased the 65 in model for a large bedroom and works perfectly. The delivery was very fast, and the product was delivered with first class service by Amazon. The picture clarity is amazingly amazing- This google tv is very smart, but be prepared to set up a Google account during start up. However, I made one specifically for the tv itself. Trust me, you will not regret this purchase for the price. I recommend this product for anyone looking for upgrade or just want to add to a large room. Thanks for reading my review. and I hope this is helpful.

Big improvement over the Visio
What I liked best about this is if it can't find a video signal, it doesn't automatically switch to a webcast signal in 2 seconds like the Visio did. The only thing I don't like is that when the TV is off, my Comcast Comcast cable box senses that and also shuts off, so when I turn it back on, these is no program I can watch for the past hour, which is why I always left the cable set to 24 hours news so I could rewind and hour and see what I missed. But that is minor. Any web based input signal that goes into the TV through the Cat 5 cable is fantastic, including Netflix. So much better than I got through the Comcast Netflix app. Super fast TV remote response using Netflix. I can hold my thumb on the Next button and fly though the selections. The Comcast app would take 3 seconds between each keypress to respond. Also, Comcast maxed out at 1080P, when using the Web directly, it is truly 4K for all signals. Even the screensaver pictures on the TV's webcast mode make it seem like you are looking out a window.

Buena smart tv
