Soft and great fit

My five-year-old says he loves how soft these shoes are, but the tongue on one shoe always falls. It's frustrating for him, having to stop walking, etc to fix the tongue multiple times per day. He's basically stopped wearing them, only a few months after buying.

the stitching was poor quality certain defects

I was a bit hesitant to get a pair of shoes for my son without trying them on first, but I am glad I did. My son goes through shoes faster than I can get him new ones, so I am constantly looking for a good pair that are comfortable and will last.He normally wears a 12, so I got him the 12.5 and they fit perfectly, with a little room to grow. His normal size 12 was starting to get small for him but 13 were to big, so being able to get a half size was perfect.When they arrived he loved the look of them and was excited to wear them. He has been wearing them almost every day for a few weeks now and has said they have been comfortable from day 1. No blisters from "breaking them in" or rubbing wrong. He has been on the playground with them, running around the yard, biking and climbing trees. Not once has he complained about them being uncomfortable.Even with all his playing in them, they have held up. With the mesh sides, his feet have stayed much cooler adding to his comfort. The velcro used is not flimsy and does stay down. The cross ties over the top are elastic, allowing for someone with a thicker foot to still fit them or wearing thick socks. Even with all his rough playing, the stitching has held up.The shoes are very flexible in the sole, allowing for a more natural movement. Inside the heel and toe part of the look like they have a Styrofoam in them. Which makes the shoes feather light. These shoes are lighter than my Merrel running shoes. The material used is thinner than typical running shoes, but thicker than the canvas shoes the box stores carry.I got him the red and black ones, and the red is a true deep red, not an off colored red. The style is great, not overly flashy like some shoes can be but not a boring looking shoe either.Really the only thing I would change is the tread. For a running shoe on a paved sidewalk or playground it works great, but it is a bit thin for uneven terrain that could be wet. My son hasn't had an issue with slipping, but it has been extremely dry here and the ground has not been soft.All in all, this is a great running shoe for kids. My son has not complained about them, and that goes a long way when out and about and having a happy, comfortable kid.
