Slightly morbid but funny
Definitely an above-average post-Goscinny Lucky Luke. As a parody of the classic film 'High Noon' the narrative by Fauche and Leturgie has a clear drive and structure that even makes it something of a page-turner, not so usual in Lucky Luke stories, which often tend to meander. And the timing and flow of gags are actually pretty good. The story verges on the morbid at times, what with coffins and undertakers and Luke even apparently succumbing to Joe Dalton's bullet at one point, but of course everything turns out OK in the end and it didn't seem to worry the kids. One of the better titles in the series to have been translated by this publisher recently.
