Great Spoon
We’re trying to limit the microplastics in our life (even though it’s probably futile!) so we got this so we wouldn’t be dipping plastic into boiling water regularly. We are big pasta people and this hasn’t disappointed. It’s not the biggest pasta spoon out there but it’s high quality, sturdy, and does pick up a surprising amount of pasta. My favorite parts are the weight of the base of the spoon which makes it easy to transport pasta fast, and I love the finish - it’s nothing crazy, but it feels really high end. I think this is the last pasta spoon we’ll ever buy!

Great spoon skimmer!
I love this Cuisinart spoon skimmer. It’s substantial and thick. I attached a photo showing its thickness. It feels good in your hand- not too heavy, but not lightweight. It feels like it’s good quality. The size is perfect for ravioli, which is my plan for it as I have another skimmer I use for soup that I also purchased on Amazon, of course. This one will work for many different purposes. You can use it to strain vegetables from steaming, broths, pastas, etc. It will perform well and is versatile. It isn’t sharp at all. It’s very smooth and is finished well. There aren’t any edges to be concerned about here. It’s easy to clean. Cuisinart did a fine job with it. To sum up… Pros: excellent size, very smooth, easy to clean, polished sleek design, versatile in the kitchen, good weight, quality kitchen tool Cons: none that I could find

Why I chose this one
[NOTE – since several products are lumped together on the same page, to be clear my review is for the SKIMMER] It was not a difficult choice to pick this model over some of the others sold here – either a no-name flimsy looking product for twice the price or an all-stainless steel Cuisinart brand for a much more reasonable price. My final decision came down to this one or a similarly-low priced one from Faberware, another brand name I respect. The deciding factor is the shape. I guess it all depends on what you plan to do with a straining ladle and that’s why there are different shapes. My primary use is to scoop cooked hamburger up out of the grease in the frying pan to drain it before dumping it into the recipe I’m cooking. The wire-type of ladle is not suitable because the hamburger would just fall through the holes. The Faberware, while nice, is too deeply dished, which makes it difficult to scoop something up out of a pan and while the product is about the same diameter it doesn’t let me scoop up as much food as the flat bottomed Cuisinart. I like the shape of the handle compared to some of the other brands. That is a little difficult to describe but in my words this one is more ladle-like compared to being more spoon-like. That affects the way it is held, with this style being more comfortable to me. I also like that the handle has more shape to it, compared to the Faberware for example that is more of a stamped piece of thin metal. Not that it has to lift a lot of weight but I do find the flat metal type of handle bends easier. The skimmer is a full 14” long, larger than expected but very pro quality. The product I received is labeled and boxed as a Cuisinart brand item with a lifetime warranty, some people have reported that’s not what they got, perhaps they inadvertently received a returned product? It looks identical to what the seller’s page pictures. It is labeled as being stainless steel, I can’t tell, but I can say it has a very highly polished finish. This is a surprisingly well made utensil for the price though; it is large, heavy-duty and feels like something that would be used in a commercial kitchen. I also use it to skim the stuff from the top of homemade soup and to lift noodles out of the water or a colander. It is quickly becoming a must-have kitchen tool and I’m sorry I didn’t buy one years ago.

The Okayest Spatula
Got this during the Black Plastic Utensil Panic of ‘25. It looks nice and feels nice in the hand. Not that great at turning a grilled cheese because the edge is not slanted. However, it works ok for other things.

Great no-frills ladle
Exactly what you want out of a ladle with none of the worry about plastic. Easy to hold and clean, easy to use to scoop soups or other liquids, holds a good amount of liquid, and is durable enough to last a very long time.

Super great spoon with just the right amount of weight to it.
This is just what I wanted! I ordered a huge stock pot that is very deep and need spoons that would be able to reach the bottom . This is 13.5” and won’t quite touch the bottom of the pot but will well for stirring, etc. This is well made and has a nice weight to it. The handle fits into my hand nicely and will not slip out while stirring. It has no bend to it so that makes it even better for what I will be working with. Great buy and I am very happy!
