Alive in the Writing: Crafting Ethnography in the Company of Chekhov

Loved it. I'm writing my PhD dissertation in anthropology and this book was really useful to get started and get over writer's block. Great insights on ethnography too.

Alive in the Writing was recommended from an academic viewpoint but it extends far wider than this. Anyone who has a story to tell should have this book. 5 stars.

Very useful book for graduate students/non fiction writers. While giving practical advice and encouraging writing with concrete exercises, the book provides straightforward ideas of anthropological theory. And you also learn about Chekhov!

This book was even better than expected! I purchased it after reading several other Narayan texts and urge anyone interested in writing ethnography to purchase this book!
