So far, I have only played a few CD's through it and played with the volume, EQ, Bass, and light controls. It sounds amazing! I have tried other products like this that have had very lackluster sound and subpar controls. I am very happy with this purchase so far.I will test it with batteries (just using AC adaptor it came with so far) and see how long it lasts with batteries at high volume. I will also pair my phone with it to try streaming and other tests soon. I may change my review after that, but so far it seems to be a great product for the money.The subs on the sides kick out good clean bass and the mid/tweets have high fidelity for vocals/ guitars/drum cymbals etc. Steve Harris sounds clear in a mix (that says it all with complex music ;-) . This compact unit is portable but fills out a room quite nicely when playing inside.The only cons are 1) that the light feature (not even a concern when purchasing) doesn't allow me to pick a color and stay with it. 2) The spring-action of the CD compartment cover is not as responsive as most othet products like it. I have to press it hard to pop up all the way.Overall, it seems like money well-spent so far. I will update my review if there are issues with Bluetooth, radio, USB, battery life or anything else that stands out. If I do not update then it means that those were also acceptable or beyond.

I bought this for my husband and he loves it. He says the clarity is remarkable and the sound quality just keeps amazing him. He wanted a clean undistorted sound and expected the 50 watt amplifier to produce such a sound. It delivers "in spades". At lower volumes 5 thru 10 with the double bass on you boost bass and mid-range frequencys using the graphic equalizer "jazz" setting. What you hear is a full, rich, and clear sound. Other equalizer choices include pop, samba, rock, and techno - each has a different character for different listeners. Volume 11 thru 20 - the sound remains rich and fills the room with the double bass turned off. If the unit's side resonators are bounced forward by walls or a corner location the sound platform is expanded. Volume over 21 (top volume is 31) will fill a large room with sound. The "CD" player mode allows repeat one, repeat album, repeat all, shuffle and off. The FM radio tuner delivers sound that rivals a CD and MP3 recordings when the station is broadcasting in stereo. The Bluetooth connected to my phone (Samsung) just fine and Pandora sounds great.,NOTE: your cell phone volume affects the boom box volume. He is very satisfied with the Philips Boom Box. However, if you are expecting the bass to sound like a sub woofer you will be disappointed. If you want the bass to be a balanced part of the music this is a great unit that will not disappoint.

I was looking for an old school type boombox for the covered patio in the backyard, with some modern features like Bluetooth and USB. The CD player was mandatory for all the formats, as I've recorded many a custom CD in my time. It's basically just that, and I'm very satisfied with the purchase.AM/FM Tuner is very good, the CD works well, and the sound is very good. This thing will crank very loud. The bass boost could be better, but it hits pretty well. The front speakers could use a grill in front to protect them, and no remote (which I didn't need) are some minor flaws. The lights don't sync with the music, but I usually turn those off or on low setting which looks good. Bluetooth works just fine, and I haven't tried the USB yet as I have no thumb drives with recorded music on them.Over all it was just what i was looking for for the backyard and late night howling at the moon.

After checking out many boom boxes in the market, I decided to go with this one. Compared to many and considering the compact size, this is a very complete boombox. It plays cd’s, it can program automatically many FM radio stations, it has a USB connection for an iPod and also a wire connection. Also has a dbb Which is a dynamic bass booster. The best sound is when listening the radio but the cd and iPod has a decent one. Also you can listen any device with Bluetooth. The bass booster is not very impressive but again, for the compact size is great. In case you wonder, there is no remote control on this equipment.

I read through all of these reviews, which were mixed, so I went ahead and purchased this item. I listened to the reviews though and immediately upon opening the item, I plugged it and tried the CD player. Afterall, this is why I bought this item and spent so much money on it. Well, to my amazement, the prior reviews on this topic were correct and the CD player did not work. I am sending it back and not going to bother trying a replacement. Oh, and while I was at it, I did play music through the radio and Bluetooth cause I also purchased it for the sound and 50W power. The sound is ok, but it is not loud at all. Unless maybe it is louder with CD's, which I would not know! I would not buy this for volume either. If you are reading this, you are probably looking for a CD boombox with good sound and volume as I was and are finding unbelievably it just doesn't seem to exist, which is why I took a chance on this, but trust me when I say, don't do it. It is not worth the time, effort, or money.

I have tried out all of the functions. So far (second day) everything works fine. I've heard others on here say CD player has had issues. Loud enough sound for the large patio area I'm using it for. Bluetooth works great with my Android. Dislikes are no remote, no headphone output and the speakers have no covers. AM/FM could have much better sensitivity but better than a lot of newer radios I've used.
