From the founder of DwellStudio and the author of Undecorate , this luxurious decorating resource trains the eye to recognize enduring, quality home goods and to use them to dazzling design effect. Quality matters. Just as a home s foundation should be built to stand the test of time, so, too, should the furniture, objects, and elements of our rooms speak to an enduring sense of beauty and comfort. They should outlast trends and our loving day-to-day use. But how does one recognize quality and judge whether something is well made? Christiane Lemieux set out to answer this question by interviewing the world s greatest experts. Weaving together the insights and guidance of dozens of wallpaper and paint specialists, textile fabricators, accessories artisans, and interior designers, Lemieux has curated an unparalleled education in recognizing the hallmarks of timeless, heirloom-quality pieces. Hundreds of elegant home interiors both iconic examples from the past and stunning residences today--represent the range of luxurious and customized environments that can be created with fine décor. Beautiful looking book
Beautiful looking book, absolutely love it and how it looks in my black and gold themed dining room. The different tones in colours have a great depth look to them. Want to buy another just don’t know where I’d place it yet!

Lovely but expected a bit more
Lovely book overall, however the quality of the photographs used is inconsistent. Some are high-resolution at full-page, others are slightly low-resolution at this scale. This was a let down for me and I am contemplating returning the book. On one hand the book seems comprehensive, on the other hand it seems to depict a rather biased design style.

Beautiful addition to my coffee table
This book arrived promptly and in excellent condition. The photography is gorgeous and the text is informative. I am especially interested in textiles, so this book is right up my street! So glad this book is now a part of my collection.

Stunning book for the collector
I saw this stunning book in Chapters/Indigo for $75. This was $61. It arrived in less than 24 hours. I bought it as a decor piece. I had to hide the little cable box in a decorative jewelry box and elevated it with a couple of books. It’s perfect with my gold and white bedroom decor. Book is pristine. Well packed in the box. The cover is textured, more of an orangey gold and creams. Lots of different styles and famous designers. A must have.

This is a gem of a book!
This book is a gem! It is a coffee table book that delivers on all fronts – visuals, text, paper, cover, binding … however it is much more than a coffee table book because of the well conceived project that led to its development: the book provides a very well researched and comprehensive coverage of both the “hardware and software” that make a house a home, including walls, floors, furniture, textiles and accessories, across several functions and materials. The text is highly informative, contains a lot of background information about all of these “finer things”, including how they are made and how their production and utilization have evolved over time. A wealth of knowledge that makes the reading informative as well as useful. The photography is stunning and makes it go back to it, to read the text and/or soak in the beauty of all the “finer things” illustrated. It is really a high quality book, reflective of a high quality endeavour by the author. A great resource for anyone who is interested in interior design and/or in appreciating timeless beauty and/or virtually anyone who is interested in learning about the design, technology and craftmanship of the things that make houses homes. And a stunning, classic piece that elevates any coffee table décor. I am enjoying this book on so many levels and highly recommend it.
