I just started on my second bag of this pepper and it's freaking amazing. It's not the hottest thing in the world but it's so wonderfully fresh and flavorful. So if you come to red pepper for the flavor as much or more than the pain, I cannot imagine you will be disappointed with this. Beats grocery store pepper by a scientifically proven factor of 47.2 times.Some of these top reviews saying they are not fresh or they smell like chemicals seem to be a completely different product than what is shown in the listing and what I received. After decades of grocery store red pepper I didn't even know it was POSSIBLE for it to be as fresh and vibrant as this product is.

I used these to make garlic chili oil rather than Szechuan peppercorns, and I shouldn't have. These are hotter than any dried chili peppers I've ever come across. Now, with that said I do think the flavor is really good and a small amount goes a very long way. I just wasn't expecting it and had to recover for a few minutes after putting only a couple drops of the infused oil on my tongue.The package was very, very fresh. BTW; Do not smell inside the bag for freshness. Yes, that sounds really dumb in hindsight, but like I said I've never come across dried chili flakes on this level of spiciness. Beware!Otherwise, a good buy overall. Certainly won't use nearly as much as I normally do in anything I use it for.

It's vary rare that I taste the heat factor in flakes like these, which is why the flavor is lower than 5/5. It's typically used more to flavor my meals than to add heat. That said, I love hot food, and making the mistake of assuming I could add as much of this as I normally do made my meals very hot. Good for me, though this might be a problem for people that're use to using the bottles sold at the typical grocery store.That said, the flavor is still very good. This isn't isn't hot like eating a Ghost Pepper or a Reaper. So don't worry about that level of heat. There is something in the heat of this one where I could taste it, and I can't taste the heat from most peppers for whatever reason. So I might not be the best judge of the "Warmth" as such.

I bought this to refill my shaker so I can cut down on waste and save money. I have had two bags with the same problem. The first bag I had was in 2020. When I opened it, the flakes looked really good - brightly colored and a pretty pungent hit of aroma. They tasted great, too! When I went to refill my shaker about 3 months later, the flakes has a really dull appearance, no stong smell, and appeared to be all clumped together. Upon closer inspection (after filling my shaker) - I finally realized they were moldy. Figuring it was a fluke or pandemic-related quality issues, I re-ordered. The same problem happened this time, except there was only a month between first opening the bag and the second. Both times, the flakes were well before their expiration date, and the bags were stored in my cool/dry/dark pantry. Definitely would not recommend.

My Indonesian wife adores spicy foods and loves this crushed red pepper. I use it on pizza.It is high quality crushed red pepper, from India and certified organic by a U.S. organization in Indiana, U.S.A. I prefer to buy from the U.S.A. when possible, however, the "Amazonhonestreview" person gave it one star and included description that I am dubious of, it is way over the top.I buy peppers and spices from all over the world and in fact most of our spices come from other countries, especially Indonesia, formally know as spice islands by the Dutch Spice traders.

Very tasty. I am used to dealing with grams instead of pounds so do your own research. I thought I was getting a great deal but that was my own ignorance. The taste is fine quality though... Delicious!
