TCL Go Flip 2 4058G 8GB Factory Unlocked 4G LTE GSM Smart Flip Phone (Renewed)

Hubby and I were looking for a dumbphone for our digital detox without spending too much money. After some research, we decided on this one—the TCL Flip 2. It’s not the Alcatel My Flip 2 (or something like that). They are similar but not the same. I dare say this one is better because it runs on Android, whereas the other, as far as I know, uses the KaIOS system. Since it’s an Android phone, I had doubts about whether it was truly a dumbphone. To my surprise, it actually is. This phone doesn’t have the Play Store, so you can’t simply download apps and end up failing your digital detox. It’s a very limited device, but it still provides enough technology to function in daily life. I believe it’s made of plastic, which is great because I don’t have to worry about breaking glass or damaging aluminum. I’d say the material is decent and serves its purpose well. It’s lightweight, even though it has two parts (it’s a flip phone, after all). It supports 4G, WiFi, and Bluetooth, allows group text messaging, and even displays emojis (which many dumbphones don’t). The call quality is just as good as my iPhone 13 Pro, text messages work as they should, and it functions with Mint Mobile (so I assume it also works with T-Mobile, since Mint uses their network). You can even insert an SD card and listen to music. It has a headphone jack, but you can also use wireless earbuds thanks to its Bluetooth capability. The battery is amazing—it lasts about 3 to 4 days, depending on usage. It has a browser, but it’s inconvenient to use—which I love because I don’t want to waste time mindlessly scrolling on a screen. Hubby and I love this phone. I just wish it had maps and at least WhatsApp. Because of this, I carry my smartphone when I need navigation and check WhatsApp on my laptop. I know you can customize it using apps from Apps4Flip.com, but I still don’t know how to do that. I think it’s a great device for the price, and if you’re more tech-savvy than I am, you can probably get even more out of it. The seller, EKings (I think that’s the name, but if not, it’s something similar), was really good. The seller you choose on the Amazon Renewal Store makes a difference, and I recommend this one. They shipped it quickly, and the packaging was excellent—every piece was carefully stored separately in the box, which I really appreciated. I believe it wasn’t eligible for free returns, but since I don’t intend to return it, I can’t comment on that aspect. I’m completely satisfied and highly recommend it! Got this to get rid of my smart phone. It texts, it calls, nothing else. You can set up your email but I decided not to. It has group texting and a mobile hotspot for when I need to use an app on my smart phone to pay to park or etc. It's perfect. Works with t-mobile and mint. Calls sound much better than my smart phone. The button on the outside with the picture of a phone is a way to answer the phone when you're driving or can't open the phone, it automatically puts the call on speaker which I thought was nifty. Battery lasts days. Granted, I don't use my phone much anymore because there's nothing on it, not even games, so I forget to charge it and the battery will only be about half or so. Quickly charges too. Never use the camera but it's there, can even zoom in with it. There's T9 texting or predictive text which is actually pretty reliable. Switching from a smart phone to this has impacted my life greatly. My screen time is down from an average of 3 hours a day to less than 20, if that. Buy it if you're looking to rid your life of a smart phone and reduce your screen time.

I updated my iPhone to iOS 18 and experienced severe headaches. So much so, the device became unusable and have been unable to use a smart phone since. I purchased this phone as a last resort, and it worked out for me (praise God). I was able to insert my sim into this phone, and it worked in a matter of seconds. Coming from a smart phone, this phone is extremely basic, but it does what it's supposed to do. I am able to make calls, text, add my music, and I use the calendar and stopwatch feature time to time. The picture quality is poor, and I was unable to link my email successfully to the phone. I rarely text ever now (due to it taking so long to key) but I am able to if needed. However, the sound quality is fair, the calls are crisp, and I can play my music. So, it has its pros and cons. But for the price and for what I can do it's a good phone. I would recommend. Oh yea, the battery life is good too. I can go probably two days w/o a charge. But take in account, I'm rarely on my phone like that anymore. But overall, if you're looking for a work phone, back up phone or just have unfortunate situation, I recommend.

We got this phone for our tween daughter. We use Mint Mobile. It was easy to add her. Works exactly as advertised. Camera is okay, which is fine for her age. It's a durable little thing too. It survived a night in the front yard in the rain.

Is not compatible with all phone plans. Not truly unlocked is still tied to TracFone blocking Wi-Fi calling as an option also not Android at all it is running kaiOs to zero app store 0 YouTube 0 Pandora anything that was listed as a possibility this was supposed to be a smart dumb phone not completely useless was way overcharged for what I got I could have got this at the dollar store for like 10 bucks would give it zero Stars if I could do not buy

Great phone but didn't work with my Xfinity mobile SIM even though they say it works with all carriers. The Xfinity rep did seem like a duggard though

Looking to ditch the smart device life, but still want to keep a mobile phone? I think this is the perfect choice. This device is very utilitarian. It runs a modified version of Android and has only what you need. A rudimentary camera, a calendar, calculator, note-taking app, and web browser among other utility programs for when you absolutely need that kind of thing with no mobile game or ad-riddled fluff. Otherwise, it's just for sending and receiving calls and texts. This is way better than KaiOS in that regard. Battery life is great, but mostly because you won't be using it 24/7. I charge mine when it gets below 25%, which takes between 5 and 7 days. Sound quality, both sending and receiving, isn't great, but it's not like a phone calls really ever are.

Exactly what I needed. I have an up to date iPhone. This is a second phone. I work from home. I just needed a dedicated phone to forward my business calls, when I’m out of the office. This works perfectly on T-Mobile prepaid service. Compact. In like new condition. Worth every penny. I barely use it. But good to have with me when I need it. I pre-pay T-Mobile $30.00 every three or four months.

I’ve been using this phone since January ans my daily driver, and I haven’t had any issues with it! It says water resistant but I’ve dropped it in the pool and it still works completely fine. Calls are clear, you can text with the t9 and send and receive photos and videos. I even downloaded music to it!! I highly recommend this phone to anyone looking for something simple, durable, and affordable! (Phone case from Amazon)

This does appear to be a excellent phone but unfortunately I have to return it as the center "ok" button is complicated for my mom's very arthritic fingers

The only thing I dislike is that it's not black, more like a dark grey! Regardless, so far operates normally as I use it exclusively for phone calls and text messages! Works properly on my internet home network as well via its built-in WiFi system therefore can be used easily at any free WiFi location! Also I was able to transfer all my contacts from previous LG flip phone, easy to pair it up with your previous phone! Btw, a flip phone is for everybody, senior or not, as I'm not one of them, a flip phone is for a person solely interested in a device that allows you to make digital phone calls and send/receive text messages and not being addicted to social media at all! Yes, I recommend this phone to anybody interested in a fairly-small flip phone! Update Oct 8, 2025: spent 63 days vacationing in US, TCL Flip Phone worked beautifully and flawlessly in Alaska and then Lower 48 states, it gives you the option to choose from all major US cell networks available in US, in my case I chose AT&T, free incoming text messages but for the rest of your daily habits like outgoing text messages, phone calls or data, roaming rates are pretty high! I recommend disabling roaming data access and no phone calls and outgoing text messages unless you have a plan that protects you against such high US roaming rates! GREAT PHONE!

I am a computer tech and made a serious attempt to use this phone and the setup is fairly easy but it doesn't work very well at all. The keypad is nearly impossible to use. When a button is pressed to try and type a letter it will not advanmce to the letter you want on the same button. This made the phone nearly useles and am sending it back for a refund and buying a smart phone instead. BUYERS BEWARE, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SOME FLIP PHONES BECAUSE OF THE OLD TECHNOLOGY USED. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHONE FOR A SENIOR WHEN AN INEXPENSIVE SMARTPHONE WILL WORK PROPERLY.
