Great replacement but a little tricky to install.

Really had my Hope up for this product to work. Connected it to my vacuum, plugged in a fully charged makita18v battery for a disappointment when I squeezed the trigger. Seem there's just not enough power for the motor to work properly.

Much cheaper than replacing the battery and lasts a lot longer than the battery it comes with.

Battery life is much longer with a Makita adapter, less expensive, easy to charge, vacuum seems stronger

The Dyson battery is a 21.6 volt battery. This adapter makes your 18 volt battery work with the vacuum. But once the 18 volt battery drops below it 18volts the vacuum stops working. Which means the vacuum only works for about 2-4 minutes on the 18 volt battery before it stops working. You would be better off replacing the battery with a factory battery. Remember to let the battery cool for 30 minutes after use before charging.

The media could not be loaded. We have had our V7 animal for several years and had to replace the battery once. I have a lot of Makita tools and the batteries that go with them. This adapter seemed promising.It took just seconds to take out the 3 screws, slip out the battery, put the adapter in, and reinstall the 3 screws. I put a Makita battery in and it worked (see the video). It sounded like it was less suction - I think the voltage is just a tad lower than the Dyson battery. It wasn't picking up some fuzz on the ground.The real problem was that I couldn't get the basin cover to close after installing the adapter. The red switch in the picture is blocked and doesn't move - without the basin being sealed I get no suction. The adapter makes it impossible to use the vacuum unless you removed the adapter each time you need to empty the basin.....Had high hopes for this, but appears to be a fail for me...

When I ran across this particular modification for my Dyson v8, I just had to give it a try. I have a ton of 18v Makita tools and batteries, including 2 dual battery chargers. Using a Makita battery on my Dyson would enable me to have almost unlimited amounts of power at hand for my Dyson. For me, it typically takes somewhere around 2-3 charges to vacuum my house using the standard Dyson battery that came with it. That's a lot of waiting around for the battery to charge and that vacuum is super power hungry in max suction mode. Please note that this adapter will only work with 18v Makita batteries (the capacity doesn't matter much other than runtime, I've used them with 3ah and 5ah batteries in testing).The adapter seems pretty well constructed, but what wasn't well done was the instructions. They were more concerned with the use of the product and warnings. It had very little information on how to install the adapter in the first place. In order to install it, you need to remove 3 screws with a small Philips screwdriver (not included). I have circled the locations in the pictures. There are two near the dust collection cup at the bottom and one at the top of the pistol grip. Once you removed the three screws you should be able to gently tug downward on the battery pack and it will drop out. You then slide in the adapter and reinstall the screws and you are ready to use Makita style batteries from now on.On testing, I found that the run time on the 5AH batteries I had on hand were great. I was able to do half of the house on a half a battery charge and these were well used batteries that were at least a year or so old! I also like the battery indicator much better that is built into my Makita batteries. I also think that the slightly heavier Makita batteries help to balance out the vacuum when using the carpet cleaning attachment on my Dyson. Battery changes are super quick and easy, just depress the white retention button as you would normally do with the Makita batteries and slide the old one out and slide in a new one.Overall, I'm very impressed and happy with the adapter, I took of a star due to the lack of installation instructions on the included instruction sheet.

Dyson v6 works good now.
