First off, these are NOT the creepy 90s Furbys that would randomly start talking in the middle of the night, and honestly, I’m slightly disappointed. When Santa brought these for the kids at Christmas, I was fully expecting a little bit of childhood trauma to come flooding back. Instead, these actually speak English right out of the box, and their eyes are significantly less disturbing than the Furby I had as a kid. They work fine and the kids have enjoyed them. They can even interact and talk to each other, which is pretty cute… and thankfully not nearly as horrifying as I remember the original ones being. My biggest complaint is that this thing takes EIGHT AA BATTERIES. EIGHT. For one Furby. In this economy?! Overall, the kids like them and they work well. Just make sure you have a Costco-sized supply of AA batteries because apparently keeping a Furby alive requires more resources than I anticipated.

I bought the Furby Tie Dye as a gift for my niece, and she absolutely loves it. From the moment she opened the box, she was fascinated by how it moves, talks, and reacts to touch. I love these cute little Furby’s. I’ve always been a fan of Furby and am so happy I can share a childhood favorite with my 6 year old. I realize there were other attempts to bring Furby’s back throughout the years but none of those were as great as these new ones. I am a little disappointed that there weren’t many options to choose from with this model. We need more neutral options so they would appeal to more children and collectors. That being said I really do love the look of these. Especially the purple one. My daughter got her toy books from Amazon and another big box store and this was one of the products that she had circled and she has mentioned wanting the purple one a few weeks ago. The little necklace is such a cute touch. Perfect gift for your littles this holiday season. We’ll just as long as they are into these color schemes. Get it now before Black Friday and Christmas shopping season officially starts.

Today I am reviewing the one and only Furby in its newest iteration. I actually grew up during the time of the original Furby, which I received one Christmas in the early aughts. This modern version is sort of like the original Furby’s neon cousin. The resemblance is there despite all the differences - most notably the smaller immobile mouth and much larger ears which illuminate and animate with Furby upon its awakening. Much like the original, this version speaks “Furbish,” and comes complete with a concise “Furbish Dictionary” within the instructions manual, aptly titled “Friendship Guide.” This Furby almost immediately came to life upon the installation of 4 AA batteries. It should be noted that this Furby speaks a mix of both Furbish and English, so it’s very easy to follow along even if you’re not familiar with Furby’s native tongue. Speaking of tongues, you press the Furby’s mouth to feed it, rub the belly to tickle, and pat the patch of fur up top to pet its head. Furby does not like being ignored and will promptly fall asleep within about 1-2 minutes of inactivity. Many people complain about Furby’s not having an “Off” button, but my main gripe with this toy is that there’s no way of controlling volume. I made the mistake of testing this late at night close to an open window. Needless to say I think some of my neighbors may have heard all the fun I was having - the thing talks to you like you’re standing at the opposite side of the room. The lights are a cool feature, and its cute little feet rock it back and forth for extra expression. I had no use for Furby’s incessant singing and “dance parties” which it seems to default to upon initial activation. There are ways to bypass this, so read the manual if you want a more docile creature. All in all, a fantastic piece in Furby’s legacy.
