Excellent Kit
Another Rokr kit that is real fun to build. This one combines thin metal sheet, leather overlays and plastic parts. These guys do such a good job with the ingenuity of the design, the instructions and the way it all goes together. The kit includes cutters, to remove the plastic parts from the skeleton frames, grease, a screwdriver for the (very small!) screws and a file. I also use a sharp knife to remove burrs in favor of the file as I find it more precise. Each skeleton is in a marked bag, although it doesn't need to be as the skeleton frame has a flag on it indicating whether it is A, B, C etc, and each part has a number flag adjacent to it so there is no ambiguity. The precision of the parts is excellent, many steps just rely on an interference fit, others are augmented with screws. The parts are pre-painted, even the detailing is finely applied. A selection of screws of varying lengths is part of the kit, and they provide an item identifier sheet, which also clarifies the part numbers of the different screw sizes. Pay attention!I missed a first step in the assembly. There are eight little pistons that pulse inside an illuminated engine compartment, and each requires a brass header is attached before assembly. If you don't do that the pistons get jammed!I thoroughly enjoyed this electro-mechanical kit assembly. The creature twist-locks onto the stand and uses two brass pins to close the electrical circuit to the base, so you can remove it and reseat it at will. The base unit has a touch button to activate the creature when it is fixed to the base. It uses AA batteries in the base to power it and an On/Off switch.I would carve out 20 minutes in the evening of 'my time' to work on this and found it very satisfying. I would look forwards to that 20 minute session every day, and the pleasure of building it lasted a week that way.I'm a senior and remember plastic kits in the 1960's, and to see how far they have come is admirable.I've also built all the kits in the Rokr Industrial Series that are USN C powered, with equal enjoyment.I did some tests. With the On/Off switch On, the quiescent state of this beetle is about 10uA, (0.01mA). That is next to nothing. The AA batteries would last 20 years at that discharge rate, so leaving the switch in the On position is no issue. When the wings are flapping, it draws about 150mA. If you activated it on average once a day, it would run for about 5 months on one set of batteries, or 8 months if you used Lithium AA batteries.I strongly recommend this fine kit.

Easy to build and fun
Had a great time building it, it has all needed and the guide is easy to follow

Fun little project
I absolutely enjoyed this model. A bit disappointed with the description claiming it's a metal model. Only the wings and screws are metal, the rest is plastic. My only complaint is it didn't take longer to put together. Lots of extra pieces. I do think I was short a small spring for the front leg, it out may have rolled out of the bag and I didn't notice. But I really enjoyed this model

Wonky
This piece is extremely cool except the wings are very wonky when they go off. This is a gift for my nephew. He sent me a video of it. Itโs actually really quite funny. How crooked the wings flap. Itโs a good laugh if anything.

Very cool kit
VERY fun kit, looks and sounds awesome when it's running.A few things I learned building this:The wires are VERY THIN. The instructions tell you to route them around the screw holes because of this. Definitely be super careful with that. I accidently snapped one of the power wires, and had to strip and fix it.There are some VERY small parts in this kit. since the "body" is only 3" long or so, some of the screws and nuts are quite small, watch out for small parts and take your time. On the good side, almost everything is screwed together. I think only the "arms" and "legs" snap on.The wings are very delicate. If you have a sprue cutter, it's very helpful for cutting the wings out. (also great for the plastic pieces) Also, the tabs that are folded down to join the 2 wing pieces are very small and delicate.Everything else is very straightforward, if you're an experienced builder, the instructions are easy to follow. If you are new, just take your time, and you'll be good.

Neat and fairly easy to assemble.
Don't typically build models, but this one looked neat and wanted to give it a try. Had previously built a ROKR wooden music box so I had some familiarity with their products. This one is not wood. It is plastic. Overall the instructions were clear and easy to interpret. I followed them closely, didn't rush, and had no real problems with the build. Did it in an evening. Biggest problem was probably just the size of many of the parts... they are tiny. I used tweezers to handle the small screws and nuts. ROKR provides extras of most of the screws, nuts and gaskets. There are even duplicates of many of the parts. I purchased a pair of snippers which helped a lot when detaching the parts. Very little sanding was necessary. It functioned once assembled. Very happy with it. Would definitely recommend.

Almost perfect
Excellent kit and well thought out with nicely designed parts, including motors and lights. Instructions are about the best I have seen to date. I create many models and a set of good tweezers and the pictured amazon side cutters make assembly much more enjoyable. ROKR might want to sell a set as an add on to the orders. My only issue is that the glue for the leather patches will not hold and keeps pulling away. I will fix with some of my glue on hand.

Defective LED, nothing works with it in the circuit
The LED was defective. If I put it in circuit nothing works. The motor works when I remove LED from the circuit. There is no contact information beside owner's and manufacturer's addresses on the box (no email or North America numbers in the manual). Hoping to get response on this post.I will update if I get any response.Update: You have to go to their website, and click on the form to request for part replacement:https://www.robotimeonline.com/en-ca/pages/part-replacementIn the form, you need to provide your email, mail address, product number and exact part(s) that you need replacement (you are required to submit couple of photos: instruction cover and the sheet with the parts circled). You will receive an email acknowledging receiving your request. It took couple of weeks to get to Canada. Everything works fine now! I am changing my rating to 5 stars now.

Adult son loves it
Great gift for 44 year old tech son! He always loves getting a toy for Christmas

Good deal for what it is
I really enjoyed putting this together, with the pretty painted plastics, rubber, metal and leather parts. It felt quite cohesive while you get to use all those together. It works! The only downside I had was that it didnt quite challenge me, it took about 4 hours with small breaks for snacks.
