Praise for the first edition: "Superbly well produced. Any engagement with this 'cosmic portfolio,' from picture gazing to deep reading, is grandly rewarded." --Booklist [starred review] "The book's precise descriptions and captions brilliantly complement the 300 full-color Hubble images . . . this is an amazing book . . . outstanding." --Library Journal "A treasure map to the majesty of our universe." --Publishers Weekly "A reminder that the finest telescope in space might also be the greatest camera ever created." --Wall Street Journal The first edition of Hubble's Universe displayed 300 pages of high-resolution celestial portraits selected by bestselling astronomy writer Terence Dickinson from the initial 22 years of the Hubble Space Telescope's exploration of distant galaxies. With the telescope now at the apex of its imaging capabilities, this second edition adds another chapter with more than 36 completely new images, including the first publication of a four-page fold-out of the Andromeda Galaxy, the nearest spiral galaxy to Earth, revealing more than one million individual stars. Thanks to Dickinson's expertise with Hubble's history and discoveries and his access to top Hubble scientists for insight and accuracy, the text includes facts and tidbits not found in any other book. Combined with 330 brilliant images, the clear, succinct and illuminating narrative brings to life the fascinating forces at work in the universe.

Great Book, Great Price
I purchased this to go in my teen’s Easter basket, and it was the “star” of the show! It’s a beautiful quality, nearly every page is filled with information about the photos, there’s even an extended foldout page which was a nice surprise. 10/10 recommend gift for the space lover in your life!

I think this is a wonderful book; the pictures are clear, and colors good. The pictures of our solar system andbeyond, are amazing.. There are stars that are being formed, and new solar systems.. It is a wonderful and unique gift for a student of any age. The price is right also.

Everyone should have this book
This book is incredible! You don't have to be a budding astronomer to be fascinated by the universe! This book brings into focus every twinkle of light in the sky that you always wondered about as a child. From the amazingly beautiful and intricate Hubble telescope pictures, to the easy to understand, detailed explanations of the pictures, this book is for everyone. Constellations, nebulas, planets, galaxies, quasars, black holes, and so much more are pictured and explained in this book. It is absolutely fascinating!

Great Product
Love this book on astronomy from Firefly by Terence Dickinson. Includes the latest images from the Hubble Telescope. The photographs are spectacular with captions that are well written and informative. Buy it for yourself or for a friend or family member. It makes a great gift.

Beautiful Book
Hubble is 33 years old with many technological and imaging upgrades along the way. Even though the early celestial images were spectacular, the newer images are even more impressive. This book captures them, which is one reason to buy it. Another reason is there isn't much overlap with previously published images. Also, this book doesn't waste a lot of space explaining telescope tech - but it tells what you need to know. My biggest reason to buy this book (I looked at and compared many) is this book focuses almost entirely on the cosmos not our solar system. Buy a different book for planets and the Sun. Buy this book to see the stars. abh

Impressive! Beeindruckend!

A great story of space exploration.
The images are simply stunning and the story of this area of space exploration is both informative and well written. The evolution of the Hubble Telescope as it looked deeper into the history of the universe is perfectly complimented by the changing nature of the images.
