High-Performance GM LS-Series Cylinder Head Guide

This book is a "what is available in the market place for LS series cylinder heads" type of book. It is NOT a how-to book. It will show every conceivable head that is available for the LS series engines, and all the specs for each head. In the back, there a several pages regarding who makes LS engine blocks, and the associated specs. Gives no prices, no tear-down, and no recommendations. It is for the individual who is looking for a head that meets their expectations and enables them to make an educated decision. A great research manual!

I have been wondering what to do about an LS7 crate engine. It's a great engine but has a reputation for failed valve guides and exhaust valves. The book gave me some ideas.

Bought for my husband who is a mechanic. He likes the books I've picked out for him and finds them informative.

First 22 pages on GM Cathedral heads. Pages 74 to 76 cover GM Rectangular port heads. Rest of the book (Pg 23 to pg 98) Covers aftermarket heads. Little to no information on valves stem clearances or rebuilding information. Good book only if you are planning on purchasing aftermarket heads or like all the head information in one place. Didn't fit my needs well.

It will let you know what good cylinder head people think are good and cost effective, but doesn't get into detail on why/why not on. Really only focus on ls1 and ls7 production nothing in between making this book worthless to me.

This book is an awesome reference of some of the LS style heads available to you in your search for horse power. I like that it gives you the flow numbers at different lifts, which is useful in matching your cam to a certain head.
