I bought this for the mother-in-law of a good friend who speaks only Spanish and this really works! We're now able to have a conversation. Recommended!

Phone app does same thing , waste of money

I had to return this item ....it did not have the range I wanted

I does what it is supposed to do, however my wife is Chinese. It translates from English to Chinese very nicely, however going from Chinese to English it does not always use the right word. I was also interested in the ability to translate written words and signs from a picture, but when my unit arrived it did not have this feature. I was very impressed with the support when I contacted the seller. They were very responsive to getting me the update for that feature. My wife uses it to help understand conversations even when she is only listening. Also, things from the TV, works pretty good for that. There are two cons that I can think of. When the unit is in the case that comes with it you can not use the camera. There needs to be a cutout in the case. It is similar to an iPhone in camera location. I am looking at purchasing a new case. Also, there is no power level indicator on the screen so you don't know when it is getting low. You must menu into the utilities and find the power screen. This function should always be visible, just as it is on any phone. I notified the company about these easily fixable issues and they indicated they will take it under advisement. We will see.Update to my earlier review. The trip I planned got delayed a year due to an injury. This year I finally made the trip to China. I found this device to be a total waist of money. Not only did it not connect via the sim card I couldn't even get it to work on our local WIFI. I ended up throwing this thing back in the suitcase and using my phone when I was close to a WIFI signal. I can not recommend this device to anyone. It might work in Europe, but is useless in Asia (China at least). I should have just thrown my money in the trash can for all the good this thing did.

This appears to be the equivalent of the Vasco device I bought three years ago. With it came a slip of paper with a 1-800 number to call and the name of the person who was going to help set up my account and all that. Multiple calls were made, no person ever answered, voice mails (from me) were never answered. I should have sent this thing back at that point but I made trip to Ukraine and when I got back, called Vasco, when I said I got no support and wanted to return the device, I was told tough luck I was just past the 30 day return time, and I was stuck with it. Just because I could not contact anyone at the number (Vasco) provided was no problem of theirs. So this devise has sat on a shelf for three years. Oh, and I bought an Ectaco devise and I have been quite happy with that, more money but it works and people there actually communicate with customers besides just selling them stuff.
