Decent backup enclosure
I use this enclosure for backup duty on a server running Arch Linux. No compatibility problems. Configured RAID 0.

A Good Value
This Raid enclosure is well designed. But, there are two items of note: 1. There are vent holes at each end for the internal fan to move air thru the enclosure. The designers specified that the inside of the two vent ports be covered with a thin foam material to catch dust and debris. But the application team specified a foam material that contains an adhesive backing which blocks the ventilation by preventing air from passing thru the foam. So I suggest one takes the time to remove the foam material and its adhesive backing. I used ethanol to loosen the adhesive and then scraped it off with a plastic spatula. 2. Without the external power cable providing power to the enclosure, I found the drive occasionally going offline (disconnecting). I recommend using the external power cable at all times. Aside from those two issues, this Raid enclosure is a real value for the money. It appears to be well designed and built with some care which equates to a quality piece of equipment that will last. For a few $$ I took a couple of old 500GB HDDs and assembled another 1TB of disk space for all those TV show and movies that I have downloaded.

Believe the negative reviews. The enclosure dies taking your data with it.
GODO 2.5 inch Dual Bay RAID Hard Drive Enclosure Bought two of these enclosures to backup my main computer with. They worked fine initially but after one week both enclosures died. My computer would not even detect the enclosure. The data on 3 of the 4 drives was corrupt. Avoid this raid enclosure.

Works well.
The case itself is fine, but it came with zero English instructions. If you have built many external drives before it won't be a problem, but for someone who is building their first it might be annoying. Note: Drive was not recognized when power cable was used. If you have this problem, connect the data cable only into a powered USB port. As other's have said. Use the dip switch image on the product to configure the raid function instead of the manual. Not that I can read the manual...

DO NOT BUY!
Two minor problems -- the frame that is supposed to hold the drives is improperly drilled and one screw hole doesn't align at all. The BIGGEST problem is that the data cable is a piece of doo-doo and doesn't stay connected. Fine, you say, just buy another cable. NOPE! It's a USB 3 mini (not micro) 10-pin job. Not an off the shelf item. Good news is, I found a replacement on Amazon. Bad news is I have to wait a MONTH or more for a Slow Boat from China. I've had to order a replacement unit (from another site and maker) since I had this junk for over a month and can't return it. LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Great for NAS or NVR
Performance is great. Just have two 1Tb Crucial drives in mine but connected to a mini PC for additional storage. Great with software raid. Not see any difference with the onboard switching but the pool was created without issues. Two USB A type connections for power and data. No external power needed, which makes it more flexible for its location.

It works, but barely.
The raid modes work, many people commenting that they don't must either have had a faulty unit or don't understand how to configure windows to use the enclosure. It's not as simple as it suggests and the instructions are useless. A quick Google search will have you on your way though. Now for the build: The thing feels as cheap as possible. Cause it is. Speeds: Close to advertised, but subject to thermal throttling. The fan is not anywhere near what you need for sustained disk use. Heat dissipation: use dependant. It's good enough for: reasonably short file transfers and backups. Like I used it to back up some DVDs to use with Plex. I wrote about 1.2tbs onto a 2 drive array. Temps reached exactly max safe operating temp on the drives. 60c. Never exceeded this under the sustained load. This would ofc vary on the load and drive. Bottom line: What are you using this for? Some retro game backups, DVDs, ebooks, music etc? It's fine. Looking for a dedicated backup enclosure? Something for long sustained read/writes? This ain't it chief. It will get too hot probably. I can also save you some trouble if you are looking for multi bay raid enclosures for cheap: look for used ones locally or just pay more for a quality one this isn't something you want to skip on now and regret later. I have a NAS with 8 bays and it was worth the insane price I paid.

CONSTANT FAN NOISE
I received this item on 15 Oct. 2025. It began malfunctioning today (4 December, 2025). (i.e. 50 days later) The problem: The fan runs at high speed continuously. (i.e. VERY noisy) Trouble Shooting Attempt: I dismounted the drive, unplugged its USB connection to the computer, and unplugged its power source. (As expected, it became totally silent.) I left it in this state for an hour. When I reconnected it to the computer (via USB) and its power source, it resumed running the fan at high speed.

It works... kind of
It works but I have multiple problem with it. 1. No Linux software. When set to work in RAID1 mode, there is no way to know if/when one disk is failed. In fact I had one disk failed completely and I didn't know it until I decided to check both disks by connecting it directly to sata port. I have no idea if the device works correct RAID1 mode at all. Maybe it just always uses one disk. 2. SMART info is not available for one of 2 SATA ports of the device. I tried switch disks and modes but no matter what I did and what disk I use, it is impossible to get SMART info from disk connected to that specific port So, in short, the device is not reliable. Stopped using it.
