A small addition that made a big difference
I bought this as part of an experiment to improve the quality of the sandwich bread I make in my Zojirushi bread machine, and I'm extremely pleased with the results. For my standard white bread recipe, I added one teaspoon of diastatic malt powder along with a tablespoon of vital wheat gluten. The resulting loaf was dramatically better than my usual recipe. The crumb was soft and even, the bread retained moisture well, and the crust developed just enough character to feel like freshly baked bread while still making excellent sandwich slices. What I liked: * easy to use * only a small amount needed per batch * appeared to improve overall bread quality * excellent value * works well in a bread machine recipe The biggest surprise was how much the finished loaf resembled a high-quality bakery or grocery store sandwich loaf, but without losing the fresh-baked qualities that make homemade bread worth the effort. I haven't yet run side-by-side tests with and without the malt powder, so I can't isolate exactly what improvements came from this ingredient alone. However, the combination of this and vital wheat gluten produced results that were far beyond what I expected from such a small recipe adjustment. I'll probably experiment more in the future, but for now this has become part of my standard bread machine formula. The improvement was significant enough that I don't see myself going back.

This isn't Malt you drink, its malt you eat!
Used this to make German "Brรถtchen". It turned out extremely well! It is an agent to help the rising process, and let me tell you, this helped! Careful as you are only supposed to use about 2% of the total flour volume. The total quantity, should last a LONG TIME! It made the bread taste extremely good, I was able to make a nice dense bread that reminded me of the German bakeries! I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to expand their baking pantry!

Great for pizza making
This is great dough conditioner and it's vegan and natural. it aides the rise of your dough by converting starches in the flour into sugars feeding the yeast

Good malt, good packaging
If you love malt, this is for you. I use it in baked goods for flavor and browning-especially in waffles and pancakes. In yeast breads it enhances both rising and browning. There are days when we crave the nostalgic flavor of a malted milk shake. A. Spoonful of malt powder brings it home. Sometimes we just sprinkle a couple spoonfuls over ice cream. It is a nice jar which would is convenient and easy to keep fresh.
