3 of the 8 are missing from mine !?
A very handy little gadget for the pocket, but for the life of me I can only find 5 things possible with it, unless opening all the attachments and tossing it on the rug as a spike strip is one. (And as an anti-barefoot device, it is without equal when left opened and dead spider-like on the floor)Pliers actually kind of work, but are likely to REALLY pinch you if you're not careful, and are pretty small to expect to put much of a squeeze on anything. A small and a VERY small phillips heads, a pair of similarly sized straight blades and the previously mentioned pliers are all I can find on mine. The other 3 uses may be as a thrown weapon, small paperweight and the evil floor protector. The finish is good - been in my pocket for maybe 8-10 months now and no rust or corrosion, and the screwdrivers have come in handy quite a few times. The fit is excellent, and it never opens accidentally (which could be catastrophic in a front pants pocket). Tougher than I expected, but a wire stripper/cutter in the inside of the pliers would have made it ideal.I like it and use it often, but not sure if I'd rush to replace it if it were lost (if that makes any sense).

Decent tool, but too slippery and too heavy
This was the first Swiss+Tech tool I purchased. It has no knife, which prompted the purchase... being knife'less it may be "School Safe" for many of you looking for a simple utility tool that won't get you expelled... check with your own school first though!!Pros:No knife, therefore likely "school safe"Looks nifty, almost like a transformerCheaper than a Leatherman4 screwdriversmore like a "wrench" than a Squirt's "pliers"Cons:Too HeavyToo Slippery (why polish the thing?!)more like a "wrench" than a Squirt's "pliers" (yes, both a pro and a con)Of the Swiss+Tech multi-tools, my preferred choice is the Micro-Pro - it is unpolished and its "wrench" head is rounded and works decently well. It has fewer screwdriver ends, but feels less "floppy" and more tool like.If Swiss+Tech would lighten these somehow, by drilling out metal or using a lighter material these would be much better as a keychain utility tools. Probably price them way out of the market though, and weaken them too much.

There is nothing 'Swiss' about this tool...
Having owned a Swiss Tech 8 in one tool for more than a decade, I thought I would pick up another one to put on one of my vehicle's key rings. Though not the quality of my Leatherman multi-tools, it has worked okay in my ski coat for an occasional binding adjustment or cutting lift ticket wire wickets. When the hinges loosen I just tighten them with a hammer and another flat piece of steel. The original one I have is not made out of stainless steel, but is much more precisely made, i.e. it has actual edges on the pliars, wire cutters, and screw driver bits. The current tool, though stainless, has been polished to the point of being nearly useless. All the different screwdriver tip edges are overly rounded from excessive polishing. The worst tool is the small philips driver, which isn't even properly cut. If you zoom in on the Amazon photo of it you can see the defective tip. (After noticing how bad the small phillips was on the new tool I looked at the one on my original tool and noticed it was made defectively too. It is so bad that that the only thing I could see to do with it was to use my grinder and turn it into an awl.)I suspect that Swiss Tech has been using the same casting forms for too many years, because the type cast into my original tool that says 'patent pending' is unreadable on the current tool. Or, maybe it is because of where this is now being made, which is the point of the title of my review - that there is nothing 'Swiss' about this tool any longer. The manufacturer's website says their original tool "combined genuine Swiss craftsmanship with American innovation", but their products are now made in China. Though it is possible to get quality goods from China, these are junk.

Handy little every day carry tool
Well thought out and well assembled, this key ring tool is great for those of us who do not use tools regularly, but occasionally encounter that annoying lose screw or nut. Screw driver sizes are just right for most jobs. Pliers are quite small, which limits their utility, but they work fine on light jobs involving small parts. Disappears nicely in the pocket or on a key chain, will not open accidentally, and has no sharp corners or serrations that will wear holes in your pocket or purse. If you know that you are going to need to do extensive work, this little guy will not suit you; you need a full-size multi-tool. However, for urban office dwellers and the like, it is a very good addition to that collection of small conveniences that it is good to have on hand every day and everywhere.

Excellent little tool
I do have a thing for pocket tools. I carry a Leatherman Micra in my pocket every day. However, I wanted a second tool to keep close at hand in my living room, where for some strange reason is where I decide to take things apart, fix items, change batteries, etc. It seems I always need a small screwdriver and never have one handy.Well, now I have one. And I'm very pleased with it. The 8-in-1 is a nice heavy piece, with nicely finish edges all around. The tools pivot smoothly, if somewhat stiffly in their newness. I'm sure the action will loosen up over time.In case the included tools are not clear from the product description, you get a small and large flat head screwdriver, small and large phillips screwdriver, wire cutter, wire stripper, pliers, and 1/8 inch scale. I'm guessing that's the 8th item, since I can't find another one ;)This version comes in a nice gift tin. The tool will fit easily in a front pocket, purse, on a keyring, or, if you're like me, on the end table next to the sofa so you can take things apart without going to fetch a tool to do it.Very good quality, well made, nicely finished, and a great price.
