SOE: Lysander: A Solitaire Air War Game (Historic Wings Air War Games)

This game is a very niche subject. It is heavily tables based but if you don’t mind printing your own components (files are available on boardgamegeek) or buying them from secondchancegames (components only you need this book still) you’ll find this is an excellent immersive and unique game. From building your pilot to planning your mission and executing it; you will find the weather plays a huge part. Just hope you don’t get shot down as it might be a short career.

SOE: Lysander is really a special game, you can tell it was a labor of love. Filled with many meaningful choices to make throughout the game I never felt like I was “just along for the ride” that can happen in these types of games. Thomas Van Hare manages to take an overlooked but critical aspect of WWII and make it into a fun and exciting game that delivers great stories while learning about history in the process. If you have any interest in the subject at all or want to experience what the actual pilots did and fought through, I highly recommend SOE: Lysander.

Perhaps the best game in this system of solo play. Buy it you’ll enjoy it
