What ‘Jesus Rock Revolution’ was that then?
I think the good people at Grapefruit are starting to struggle to come up with themes for their nifty three disc box sets. Somehow, despite being an avid consumer of the music and some of the artists featured here, I must have missed the ‘Jesus Rock Revolution’ that this collection claims to showcase.That being said it does contain some fine tracks in amongst the duffers that are obviously only included because they happen to mention Jesus somewhere in the lyrics. Consequently it doesn’t hang together as well as some of Grapefruit’s other box sets of which I have many.So be prepared to hover over the skip button as you navigate through the sublime such as Al Stewart’s ‘Gethsemane Again’ or Heron’s’ Lord and Master’ and the naff like ‘Christ One’ by Quiet World or the truly awful, like Nigel Godwin’s ‘The First Time I Went To Church’.
