I live in a pretty windy part of the UK. It was very wet this week so perfect to try it out. Wow, what an umbrella!! The opening and closing button gave me a fright with its sudden efficient and rapid function, absolutely brilliant. It worked really well with the wind and it's comfortably big and incredibly sturdy. I loved the enclosed letter inside the attractive packaging, making it seem personal and very well meant. I've never had such a good umbrella.

I bought the yellow Tumella umbrella, and it looks great.It is incredibly easy to open and close. While it is a bit smaller than I expected, and I was hoping for a little more coverage for better protection, it is nice and compact for storage. The marketing claim that it can withstand 100 mph winds feels a bit ambitious. Mine has turned inside out when I cross the bridge over the River Dart in Totnes. However, by "withstand," the manufacturers might mean it won't permanently break. It is clearly designed to invert rather than snap, and it is very easy to flip back into shape.Overall, it’s a well-made, colourful brolly that is not bad for the price.

Really sturdy umbrella and perfect size. Little bit heavy compared to my old brolly but I’m sure it will last a lot longer. It is a bit hard to push the umbrella in so would not be ideal for someone who has hand issues

We gave our Tumella a test on Thursday, 27th August 2026 when it was pouring with rain and extremely windy.The Tumella opened up with a click of the button.Even though it was very windy it opened up with no trouble at all.It lived up to how it was advertised, it was sturdy in the wind and rain, it stood up to everything the weather could throw at us.This purchase is an excellent quality product, and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Tumella to anyone that wants such a quality item...Mike

I received my umbrella when said I love it . Especially with the letter lovely touch. Now I have ordered one for my wife . So we have one each. Nice and compact open and close. Not tried it out yet. But seems well made and strong. We have really strong winds by an estuary where we live. So it will be a test to see if it holds up. Would recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

The umbrella is a really good size and does hold up against winds, that others would flip and break with. We have 2 different designs of them and would definitely buy again and have recommended these to loads of people.After 18 months of use this design of umbrella developed a fault with it's opening mechanism. I contacted Tumella and their customer service was excellent. Polite, friendly and quick to respond and send out a replacement, which is excellent. So pleased. In a day in age when customer service is not great and companies usually try to avoid upholding their promises, I can say that Tumella is a breath of fresh air, they honour their product warrantee and are really helpful. ***(UPDATE)***I have finally used it in medium, strong & gale force winds, and must admit, I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the performance!Unlike the very large windproof sports umbrellas, this one does NOT actively redirect wind through the splits!..I found myself having to either thrash the umbrella or press it into the ground just to turn it back down the right way after it became inverted in mid-strong winds, I had to use it just like any other umbrella and continously readjust the positioning of the umbrella to account for the wind-direction so as to avoid it turning upside itself!The splits on actual windproof umbrellas are a lot larger and have longer + wider flaps to redirect the wind through the centre of the umbrella, but this ones' flaps just basically remained closed for the most part, rendering it useless as a windproof umbrella!I was not at all happy with this as my expectations were so high! I should have purchased a large sports one instead, that is actually windproof in ALL winds (even gale force winds are effortlessly dealt with by genuine windproof umbrellas!).I have significantly reduced my rating of this product and feel absolutely scammed - it IS however just a normal umbrella, and a decent one at that, but in no way is this a true windproof umbrella!***(ORIGINAL REVIEW)***Travel umbrellas (the little ones) are NOTORIOUS for being an embarrassing waste of money that humiliates you twice, once when it inevitably breaks & again when you remember you actually spent money on it/them!Obviously, like any sane person, I have a lot of trauma + bias towards small, compact, travel umbrellas... but this one seemed different...I don't have to carry it around like an awkward walking stick or an intimidating samurai sword imitation (either in hand or sheathed on my back between my bag).I, for some sadistic reason, had been torturing myself with 2 run-down umbrellas - without the central 'slits' to wind-proof it... so it's been a total mess really.I used to have a windproof umbrella that was massive, but never thought to search for a compact version(?)…That's when I stumbled across this one, by pure chance (thank-you algorithm), and decided that it's my best chance, as I can't have another canopy-umbrella, it NEEDS to be much smaller, but sturdy.I was certainly surprised by the efficacy of this umbrella; it's an incredible product, it really is!..It has a lovely open/close mechanism that works both ways! Press to open + extend, press again to close the umbrella (but you need to load the spring again by collapsing/pushing the extended shaft back into itself.Very strong & sturdy, has excellent windproof capabilities.So easy to operate - although it takes a good push to close the shaft (as aforementioned, it's spring-loaded).The ONLY thing that slightly worries me, is that the telescopic shafts is exceptionally well crafted, solid, but there is only one small part that feels vaguely loose, as in the different telescopic segments are all very stable, apart from the very bottom one that the handle is attached to - it has a little bit of 'freedom' (a few millimeters of slight, minimal rotation) and feels like it could develop into something compromising in the distant future, especially compared to the rest of the umbrella...Hopefully this does not jeopardise the integrity of the entire foundation; I mean, it DOES 'feel' structurally sound, but also, the telescopic mechanism seems to be the only 'POSSIBLE' weakness thus far... I will have to use it more before I can definitively comment on that aspect.It has a decent weight to it - like you know it's good quality too.The little generic/standard storage bag (sleeve(?)) that all travel umbrellas come in is not the best - it slides-off somewhat easily and is a pain to continuously put the umbrella into... I just don't use it at all, no need really - also, I'd much prefer to allow the umbrella to dry-out properly anyway, so it's pretty redundant.It has a viable hook & loop ("Velcro") clasp anyway.I strongly recommend this; I will update my review after more use, but as of now, I rate it 4*-stars until I gather more feedback.***

I’ve had this umbrella for almost 2 years and it hasn’t let me down yet. It’s held up through plenty of heavy rain & windy days and is still going strong - very sturdy & reliable. And very attractive. I even purchased a second one for my sister.

Stood up to windy Minnesota fall weather. The handles latch is sturdy as is the overall construction. The closing latch is a little difficult for smaller hands.
