Nurge hoops are the best
I purchased a Nurge squared large hoop a few months ago to try cross stitching with something other than a hoop (loosens too much and splinters) or a Q-snap (the clips are impossible to get on and off once there's fabric inside). These Nurge hoops are absolutely perfect. They hold my Aida drum tight, and adjust easily with the plastic covered screw that won't sttip your skin off or loosen over time. These are my tool of choice for cross stitching now!

This compared to metal spring hoop
I usually do my cross stitch with a circular metal hoop (wooden hoops just don't hold tight enough. Metal hoops have the clip underneath that gets in the way. I liked the more squarish shape and screw top like some wooden hoops. So far the shape allows more stitching and the screw top is working really well. Would highly recommend it.

Nurge Hoops
They keep your material tight. They are the best hoops I have used.

Pretty, sturdy, and hold fabric well
These embroidery hoops hold the fabric tightly, they’re comfortable to use, and they come in pretty colors. The channel between the hoops actually holds fabric pretty well even before the hoop is fully tightened. It does take me significantly longer to tighten and loosen these hoops than standard ones, since the screw mechanism tightens a lot more than it strictly needs to. Also, because of the nonstandard design, these don’t fit into my hoop stand that’s made for traditional hoops, which is inconvenient but not a huge deal. Minor inconveniences aside, it’s nice having rectangular hoops on hand for different design shapes and areas, and these definitely make much prettier display hoops than the cheap wooden kind.

Nurge hoops are my go to hoops for embroidery
Numerous people have recommended Nurge hoops in multiple stitching groups that I am in, so I had to give them a try and now I hate using the basic plastic or cheap bamboo hoops! This set gives you five plastic hoops all of the same size. I love the square(ish) shape, it feels more comfortable working in a square hoop than a rounded hoop, I feel like I can see more of my work area. The plastic hoops are very sturdy and hold my fabric very taught, even before tightening the thumb screw. The thumb screw is one of the main reasons I love these hoops, they are so easy to loosen and tighten. I haven’t had any problems with them seizing up or not being able to get tight enough. These are absolutely great. I have not regretted my decision to use these Nurge hoops for my hand embroidery, and I would highly recommend any of the Nurge hoops.

So easy to use
I’m still fairly new to embroidery and just getting used to the variety of tools and techniques. I wanted to see how these hoops worked in comparison with the standard hoops that come with the embroidery starter kits that I’m still working with. Oh, these are such nice hoops! I got smaller ones, but as I progress in the craft, I will go get some of the big hoops from this same type. They are so much easier to load and use. The angled screw that helps tighten the hoops is so much easier to reach and turn. The two pieces fit together easily and have grooves that help hold the two pieces and the fabric in place. It’s very easy to tighten the fabric, and then it stays taut. The plastic material is thick and solid, and it doesn’t have that cheap feel. It’s sturdy and durable. I have no fear of these cracking or breaking. Personally, I have been finding the rectangular hoops are easier for me to hold on to while I practice stitches, so these shapes are perfect. Great selection of embroidery hoops.
