Totally floored with performance
Installation of the os was strait forward. Keep note that you will need to try the best os with bug fixes to ensure all features of the orange pi are functioning. But you will not have to look long. This speedy little SBC is fast and is potentually faster than most alternatives of the raspberry.

Good board but… 4k and up smooth play nope!
Running orange pi os: arch Linux it’s works for most part. Plays1080p video without a problem but 4k and up absolutely not. Too many frame dropped. I don’t understand how they can advertise 8k but can’t even play 4k video on Orange PI OS.

Two brand new Orange Pi 5 Plus 16GB units, both completely dead out of the box. Sad day.
Received both of mine today, both were completely dead on arrival. I tried a dozen different images, flashed with Balena Etcher, Raspberry Pi Imager and dd to a verified-good SD card, and 4 different portable HDMI displays. Nothing at all. Dead. I also bought eMMC cards for each of them, and with those connected or not, absolutely zero video output, and only a solid red or a blinking green light. They're going back for a refund.

So many choice in the Orange Pi 5 series
Djc Orange piThis is a great little SBC that thinks it is a little desktop. Run Ubuntu or Debian Bookworm. The Arch distro did not seem to work. Used a Sandisk Ultra 32gb or a 64gb micro SD card. The HDMI display is solid. The network interface came right up on the 5B. The 5 and 5 plus m.2 Wi-Fi cards need a simple configuration edit and they work just as well. Be careful to use the correct card. Easy to research on the Orange Pi site and in Amazon. All of the Wi-Fi cables are delicate as are the tiny sma connector. Think gentle. I used some plastic standoffs as mounts for the two antennae. Speed 1gb on the Ethernet and 780 mbps on the Wi-Fi neat. Used a USB keyboard mouse. Used a DVOZVO case with an upgrade Geeekpi pwm fan with a bit of code and you have fun little machine. Easily connected to my LAN printer and NAS.Next up an I2C OLED status display. Fun to use for SDR and general surfing and office work. Load up Libreoffice, Librecad and Freecad and we are off making things. There lot of data from the supplier and on the web. Think of this as a RPI with smaller set of GPIO pins.I would recommend the SBC Linux board.

Good for headless usage
3w power usage while idle, booted from nvme.3,5 w with some torrent download ativity.Guys, if you're excited of all that youtube videos with 4k 2-3 display's with gpu acceleration and low youtube drops - be prepared, thats not working from the box :) or may be at all. I tested joshua, armbian manjaro different ubuntu 22 or 24 distributions and on 4k orpi was crashing constantly or no 4k available as option at all! The only much more stable 2560p output I experienced on orange pi native vendor ubuntu image but it use old kernel and crashed also when I tried some cpu benchmark tests. So for multi display desktop environment - use rock solid x86 way or be prepared to a lot of unnecessary ARM troubles :)For headless server that orpi filled all promises and my expectations: good nvme and gb network performance :) Miserable power footprint. Can only recommend.

Product was good, delivery by CN & Australia Post organisations was abhorrent.
The cardboard box was near completely crushed. Thankfully the device was in a harder plastic case inside that, wich managed to survive.

Read forums to discover understand what you are getting into before you commit to this one.
Extremely poor support. Rasberry pi images dont work, going to their website, many of the images dont work or Linux Update modules point to non official repos! The arch version works for me but requires PACMAN instead of apt. Also did you notice that there is no wifi chip. Read forums to discover understand what you are getting into before you commit to this one.

Absolute Monster
This thing is untouchable when it comes to price vs value. The only other boards that can do HVEC encoding and comes with an HDMI input are 2-4x the cost like the Jetson line, and/or come with stuff you don’t need. This is perfect for the use case of in the field encoding, like a IRL streamer box. I use it to stream multiple RTMP cameras wirelessly to the Orange Pi, where it encodes them and streams it to Youtube. It does so flawlessly. If you bought one of this custom IRL streaming devices you’ll be paying 3x the price of this for less powerful hardwareLiterally only downside is weak support for images. All that exists is a bunch of weird forks (some unsigned blobs sitting on a random google drive). I’d suggest you use the custom Ubuntu image as it’s on Github so you can at least build it and fork it yourself.

Supero mis espectativas
La placa me parece de buena calidad, funciona sin problema con armbian y en términos generales a superado mis espectativas. Pero en su sitio oficial SO no son buenos.
