The fault is mine for expecting too much.
Having read up about them and having a large crystal clear pond (no fish) with moving water I hoped for my own marimo colony and bought about 20 in different sizes and suppliers. Alas an outdoor pond is not the place for them. Between being grazed on, getting smothered by blanket weed, munched or moved about by various amphibians, or stubbornly remaining floating (despite following the air bubble squeezing tips) they have been broken up or lost.An expensive mistake but definitely my mistake. I would hope that the listing would be more detailed about habitat suitability.

This product is not as advertised
These marimos are neither giant nor balls. I was sorely disappointed by the package I received and the seller refused to accept a return or issue a refund.
