Given the cost of cycle components these days and particularly how simple it can be to nit just ruin a chain but everything it comes into contact with quickly products that promote longevity and efficient operation are to be recommended, and I’d certainly do that with this very useful set.

My son’s bike in particular was caked in mud, with the bike chain needing some serious cleaning.The two chain brushes are absolutely superb for getting gunk and the like off your chain. I had my son turn his bike peddles whilst I held the brush against the chain. Whilst doing this I squirted on a small amount of the included chain cleaner, to help get rid of the stubborn globules of thicken oil. This worked incredibly well, with the chain soon looking gunk free and ready for lubrication.The lubricant than comes with the set seems ok, although there’s undoubtedly better and more effective lubricants on the market. I tried a bit of this one on our bikes, but ended up reverting to my usual G4 lubrication for the bikes.Nevertheless, for the cleaner solution and the various cleaning tools that come with the set, it’s still a very good product. Definitely recommended and a set I’ll continue to use for maintaining our bikes.

This set looks like it’s aimed at someone who’s never maintained a bicycle chain before and needs to buy everything at once. I think that anyone who’s serious about their cycling (either road or MTB) is already going to have items which are superior to the ones in this kit, both in terms of quality and performance.Starting with the tools, the cassette cleaners are some of the cheapest I’ve come across and I doubt they’ll last very long before breaking or wearing out. The chain brush supplied is more suited for motorcycle chains and is too big for bicycle chains; it is however probably the best tool in the set.The degreaser is okay for light cleaning, but anyone who cleans their chain regularly is likely to use a chain bath with rotating brushes etc., that clean all sides of the chain and captures all the crud and gunk for easy disposal. Cleaning a chain with a brush and a spray like the one in this set just gets messy and I wouldn’t recommend it.Finally the oil is like a very thin machine oil, which I didn’t like. I prefer to stick to my branded chain oils which are specifically suited to wet and dry conditions. The oil in this set feels more like what I might use on a door lock.Overall I could not justify spending almost £27 on this collection of items and feel that it’s overpriced for the quality.
