This is a great art book. It’s great for planning art lessons, it’s great for some fun creative ideas. It’s well written and a great intro to art. Love it!

This was bought as a birthday present for a very arty 10 year old. Both the recipient snd her parent commented on what a great book it was and how much there is to do. We have another book in the series and in comparison with other activity books there is a lot more to do to keep older children occupied. Both books are a lot thicker than I was expecting.

A great book with different kinds of activities covering a range of styles and artists. Would recommend as b'day gift and for rainy day activities.

A wonderful introduction to art and the styles and techniques of some of the great artists. I bought it for my two children and thoroughly enjoyed reading and taking part with them! I wish I'd had a book like this when I was young.

It is fantastic book,and much bigger than I expected. Itś a gift and hope makes a lot of fun. If I would be a child, I would love it.

Deuchars is a British designer who has taken children seriously, explaining in very simple terms and hands-on experience some iconing techniques of modern artists such as Miro, Picasso or Calatrava. By doing so she has enabled kids to produce strikingly powerful and accomplished visual pieces themselves. Her books have different levels of complexity though, some being for 5-6 and others for 8 and up all the way to young adults. We have bought editions of this book in English, Spanish and French as birthday presents becasuse parents have commented on how inspiring it has been to see our kids producing art that looks so accomplished. On the one hand it is great to have an artist diary, constructed almos as a learning/experimenting log, and not as a coloring book. On another some of the techniques the book invits kids to experiment with would be better off in especial papers and not bound. One aspect to consider is that to take full advantage of this book, kids require to have access to a wide array of media. Although a begginer sample set of color pencils, water colors, tempera, etc would normally do, we did not have many of the specific materials before buying this book. In conclusion a most definitly 2 thumbs up, with the warning however of expecting to be asked to use a wide variety of techniques to take full advantage of it.

My niece loves this book! Hands-on experience to experiment as famous artists had done at one point in time.
