good tires for a 2012 gmc 2500hd z71.?

There are several tire sizes on the 2012 GMC 2500 trucks depending on the package you have. Tires should always be replaced with the same size designation, with approved or greater load carrying capacity -- or approved options -- as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer or authorized dealer. Interchangeability is not always possible because of difference in load ratings, tire dimensions, wheel well clearances and rim size. Refer to the sticker on the inside of the drivers door for vehicle manufacturer recommendations. You would need to work with a retailer to ensure this is an approved fitment and that there is sufficient clearance.

What's the difference with this tire and the Defender?  I carry a heavy camper with my F350 and need good tires!

The LTX is an all terrain tread and probably has more road noise, it will have a little more traction in snow, mud and gravel RV parks when pulling out your RV. The Defender is a standard road tread it will have better traction in rain and quite on the highway. It will also get better milage than a A/T up to 1mpg. Both are available in 123 or 125 load ratings, higher rating more money. They come in lower load ratings so make sure you order the right tire cheaper is not just cheaper it's less load.
I have just worn out my first set of Defenders at about 45000 they are suppose to be 60000. They are great tires but I feel there tread is too soft, they leave tread pattern marks on concrete. But I can recommend them if your wanting all the positives I've mentioned.

I'm going with the LTX this time specifically for pulling out of gravel spots with my 17K 5th wheel although the Defenders were fine for doing so in 4WD.
