MSI PRO B650M-P ProSeries Motherboard (AMD Ryzen 9000/8000/7000 Series Processors, AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, M.2, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI/DP, 2.5Gbps LAN, mATX)

I installed the MSI Pro B650M-P motherboard into an old Gateway 3200S chassis along with a Ryzen 5 7600X processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a 700W PSU (overkill, maybe, but allows room to grow). Boot drive is a SATA 1TB SSD initially running Xubuntu 20.04.4 (Xfce version of Ubuntu). I booted the desktop and everything worked except the onboard ethernet interface (Realtek RTL8125) and an external Wi-Fi USB adapter (Realtek RTL88x2bu). I didn't bother to troubleshoot the problem as I intended to upgrade the OS to Xubuntu 24.04. I did the upgrade by backing up my data, wiping the SSD, installing the new OS, and reinstalling my data. Everything works this time, including the onboard ethernet interface and external Wi-Fi adapter. I did not have to install any extra drivers. It's been operating 24x7 for only a week, but so far everything is good.

Maybe this motherboard was used?? Opened up my box and took off the cpu cover and discovered these bent or broken pins. Returning Motherboard and hoping to get a MSI mobo that isn't messed up. Thanks.

Have had this board for 7 full months now. Still functional works great. No Bluetooth so you gotta get a dongle and there’s no WiFi so you need to plugged up with an Ethernet or get a WiFi adapter

This is the second Ryzen motherboard I've purchased that has had this issue: the PC will not display to my monitor and the DRam and CPU lights won't turn off no matter what I do. The other motherboard was the Eagle B650. I've interchanged parts, called customer service, and had it professionally constructed. Nothing works, and it's such a hassle to send it back.

The board thus far has been very easy to work with. The 4 "EZ Debug LEDs" are a great addition and saved me a lot of time. ... Because the board (Pro B650M-P) came with a BIOS revision > 1.5 years old, and my processor (Ryzen 7 9700X) was not supported. Both the CPU and Memory LEDs will stay on, (and the board will not display anything on the video out). Some googling quickly turned up the typical "reseat", "make sure it's connected properly" advice, as well as reports that this board often needs a BIOS update. This leads me to the second feature that is really nice: the ability to update the BIOS with NO components installed on the board -- no memory, and not even a CPU. Simply insert a USB drive with the properly named firmware file on it and hold the "Flash BIOS button" and you're off to the reflashing races. (search on-line for full details, there's plenty of youtube videos) The board level indicators (LEDs) were helpful to know that the flashing process was progressing and when it had finished -- takes some number of minutes. So, despite the need for a firmware update, I found this board very easy to work with and install. I will certainly look for both early boot status LEDs and a "flash button" on motherboards I purchase in the future - good job MSI.

La MSI PRO B650M-P ProSeries ha cumplido con mis expectativas en casi todos los aspectos. Los dos slots M.2 son ideales para mis necesidades actuales; tengo uno instalado y espacio para expandir en el futuro. Un gran punto a favor. La conectividad es variada y suficiente, con múltiples puertos USB, conectores de audio y opciones de video. Sin embargo, un detalle que no me agradó es que uno de los puertos USB 2.0 no funciona correctamente. Aunque da carga a dispositivos como un móvil, pienso que tiene un fallo en la conexión de datos, lo que hace que no funcionen teclados, ratones o memorias USB, lo que lo deja prácticamente inservible. En general, es una placa madre excelente con buen rendimiento y opciones de conectividad, aunque ese pequeño fallo en el puerto USB afecta ligeramente la experiencia.

Been using it for a while, does the job fine

Esta placa madre tiene una gran compatibilidad con muchos componentes del mercado y tiene las funciones y puertos necesarios para el consumidor promedio (no entusiasta). Aunque le hacen falta algunas funciones como wifi incluido, por su precio no se le puede pedir más. Además, tiene muy buenos VRM's capaces de alimentar sin ningún problema procesadores de 65W o 105W (incluso overclockeados). En mi caso, utilicé esta placa madre junto con un ryzen 5 8600G y 32gb de RAM Lexar Thor OC 6000MT/s y no he tenido ningún problema hasta el momento. Leí muchas reviews que indican que los pines suelen llegar doblados. En mi caso no fue así. Tanto los pines del socket como todos los demas puertos y conectores, llegaron en perfecto estado. Así que recomiendo comprar esta placa sin temor alguno. EDIT: Despúes de 1 año de uso y haber overclockeado mi procesador en esta placa madre, esta funciona perfectamente. No ha presentado nigún problema.

It was about 40$ cheaper than other AM5 motherboards. 40 seconds of BIOS time with a Ryzen 5 7600x so it's not as fast as other motherboards but I don't notice it at all since I usually power it up and go do something else anyways. My PS/2 keyboard had some issues, it worked in BIOS but not in Windows 11, but it started working after a BIOS update from the MSI Center so I'd recommend doing that if you have issues.

When I put everything into the mobo it would give me an output signal, how ever if I took the gpu out it, it would give me a signal. I would use this to install all the necessary drivers, how ever it would still not detect my gpu when I slotted it into the mobo,I know the gpu isn’t the issue as I’ve tried it on my Freind pc in it works fine.

Después de 7 meses de uso, la ranita A2 de la ram comenzó a fallar, lo comprobé ya que mi ram en otra motherboard si funcionaba correctamente, la PC se me reiniciaba sin previo aviso, tal vez fue un defecto de fabrica que con el tiempo se fue notando más, es buena motherboard pero estos detalles son los que dejan pensando a uno sobre la calidad de las marcas con renombre.
