Great radio
I'll try to keep this short. I ordered the IX14 to replace a DX 9. I figured I give the Android based radio a try since it has been around for a few years now. Plus Spektrum has stated to use Hall Effect gimbals. After much anticipation the radio arrived and initially I was over joyed, the radio seemed well built and felt nice in the hands. The gimbals were smooth. Then I turned it on. It booted up quickly and the Airware started fine. I noticed that the throttle wasn't reading zero at the lowest setting and it didn't read 100 at full throttle. So I thought that it just needed to be calibrated But I played with the programming a bit first to see how the set up process worked. I loaded a model from the BNF library, that's pretty slick. I decided to calibrate the radio based on the throttle stick not reading properly. Even after calibration the stick would never read 0 or 100. I thought maybe it had something to do with the model I was in from the BNF library so I added a new model once I did that I got a throttle high warning. When that happens a warning screen appears and I could never clear the screen or get back into the normal Airware screen. Basically the Airware locked up. So I returned the radio and now I'm on the fence on whether I will purchase another Spektrum radio IX14 or otherwise or try Futaba or something entirely differentUPDATE: 21 Dec 23Since initially submitting my review and UPS's failure to pick up the radio I decided to see if I could do something with this radio. After encountering the gimbal issue and not being able to access the AIrware I turned it on and for what ever reason the airware opened. The throttle gimbal was still not reading zero but wasn't high enough now to initiate the warning which was what originally prevented me from trying to troubleshoot. The IX 14 has adjustable gimbal travel via little switches above and below the gimbal all the way left for shorter travel and all the way right for full travel. After many attempts of adjustments and calibrations I was finally able to get the gimbals to read zero and 100. My suggestion is to watch westhobbiesrc youtube video on how to perform this adjustment before trying it.
