Works as described! I don’t have to get out a knife to cut a piece of butter every time I cook. The extra insert for smaller butter is a bonus! The lid makes it so easy to just pop back in the fridge until next time! Dishwasher safe gives me one less thing to hand wash!

I thought this was a great idea at first. It is, but this product needs some help. I mostly use the western stubby style butter which fills the widths of the holder. However in my first attempt, it was extremely difficult to push the cold butter out since it seemed too tight. I decided to grate off the sides of the butter stick and that made it work better. Next stick, I intend to wrap the butter with plastic wrap and pound down the sides first so that it isn't so tight in there. My other gripe is that the end cap is much much much too shallow. This irritated me so much. I ended up sticking the whole shebang into one of those short silicone bumpers intended for Hydroflask water bottles and it fits it well even though it is a square peg in a round hole. The little plunger handle could stand to be a bit heftier too. I would not say things are mess-free in using this thing but it is definitely easier to get butter onto toast with it. There were other cheaper versions like this available but I chose to pay a bit more since this looked more durable. Maybe there will be a version 2 someday and also a design for those folks who have the skinny elgin sticks?

Pretty good! Needs to be constantly pushed in order to spread butter. Cleaning can be a little annoying. Overall good purchase.

Do not buy. This butter holder is too wide for a stick of butter. I put a quarter cut stick in holder & it fell right through. Nothing to hold stick in container. I’d return it, but I already used it.

Attention All BreadBakers!!! "NO MORE BUTTER FINGERS!!" This "Original Butter Spreader" is easy to use, and can hold reg size butter sticks, as well as the smaller butter sticks, using an adapter which i included. This "Original Butter Spreader" makes it so easy to butter a freah loaf of bread. I also like the neat clean way it stores butter in the frig!

Don't be alarmed by the horrific odor when you get this...it's the box, not the product. The box smells like a very strong odor of a wet animal, totally gross and very strong. I almost sent it back because no way would I use it on food if it smelled like that but when the item was out of the box, it had no odor...the box however had to go outside in the trash. I used the product after washing it on the highest temp water setting available on my dishwasher and it works great for buttering stuff which is difficult for me.
