Q: What is the total length of the 4” when opened? Trying to install at a three way splitter and why I to make sure it will fit.

I’m away from shop, but angle of wye and angle of gate solved all my concerns, the gate opens fine that way with no clearance issues.

Q: will this work with 4" PVC pipe?

I am in the process of setting up my system, these can work with schedule 20 (thin wall) PVC drain pipe. The fittings on both sides are tapered, which makes it hard to use with the PVC. I have been slitting the end of the PVC in about 6 places and using band clamps to squeeze down on the fittings. The Powertec blast gate tends to slip out frequently, even when clamped down because of the taper. I am planning to use some electrical tape to increase the diameter of the narrow side so it clamps properly. So long story even longer, YES it will work with PVC, but it definitely doesn't work as well as other 4" straight fittings

Q: What is the depth of the round flange that the hose attaches to?

They outside of the flange sticks out .829". If you measure from the tip of the flange to the slide that blocks the flow... it is 1.042"

Q: Why are there reviews for plastic gates when this one is steel and aluminum?

Yes, this one is aluminum and steel but look closely at the design. This gate I used for a vacuum system in my shop. These leak around the seam and the gate badly. I had to add plastic material to the gate plate to add thickness and then I put tape around the seam for the 2 halves to keep the vacuum leak down as much as I could. Maybe the plastic ones have better sealing.
