Works brilliantly
Didn't even know they made these as only recently got laptop and was a bit concerned as it seemed to get a bit hot at times. I have a 17.3 HP Envy which fits fine even though it hangs off the side a bit at each edge but is perfectly stable and works even better as the cooling bits on the laptop are on the side and bottom so this bit doesn't sit on the actual mat so keeps it even cooler. The tilting mechanism works smoothly and makes it much easier to type being at an angle I'm more used to. Very good quality build for what is a very reasonable price. Arrived within 2 days so great service. Simple to use as just plug in USB to laptop.

Reliable but fans are now making a clicking sound.
I have to say bought this last year, it was very quiet, very effective, my yoga 2 13 tablet didnt get hot at all especially playing sims 4, however in the last month every time i connect the usb, the fans make a clicking noise, I dont know whats going on but Im gonna have to open it up to check, the quality of the product was very good, and it was a reliable product which I wouldve bought again for another laptop. But the fans are starting to put me off. Ill open it up and update this review.

Awesome laptop cooling mat.
Great bit if kit my laptop fan hasn't had the need to kick in since using it plus my laptop is cool to touch rather than being very hot. My 12'1 laptop fits on it a treat and like how the USB cable can be switched to both sides as it gives you the option and freedom to use your USB ports left and right it doesn't restrict you using one side like other cooling mats I've had. Plus the material spongy pad underneath is nice and comfy to have on the lap and doesn't make your lap sweat like others have done. I have given this a 5 star as i'am really impressed with it and would highly recommend it.

A bit noisy sometimes but 'cool'
I've been using it for a few months now. I was really unsure when I was choosing a cooling pad and skeptical honestly about how good they would be.I'll start with the cons for this one:-it sometimes makes makes a very annoying noise when you type because your hands might be pressing on the laptop and therefor the fans but it's adjustable-when first starting my laptop for the day after it's been turned off with the pad plugged in, sometimes or most times a very loud and disturbing noise comes from it. Adjusting the laptop doesn't seem to help, so I just unplug it for a while and when I remember to plug it in again it's all fine.-the speed of the fans can not be controlled which I find as a disadvantage sometimes since it would be helpful-sometimes I feel it's a bit too small so I move my laptop around so the fans hit the hotter surface.pros:-it's really light, comfortable on your lap or other surfaces like bed, coach.-depending on the usage of the laptop, I've found that the fans are actually doing a really really good job of cooling the machine down, the only times I have trouble is when I have a lot of heavy software open at the same time but that's to be expected-it gives the laptop a certain 'boost' since it lifts it a bit higher which also insures better cooling, I guessSince I've gotten it, I've put my laptop on all kinds of soft surfaces and it's been doing a really nice job and I'm happy with it. At first I thought it's a bit small for the laptop and I still do move my computer a bit to the side when I think it cools it better but over all I'm satisfied with the purchase. The noise is the main problem I've been having with it.

Targus AWE79EU Chill Mini - Good Build But Poor Cooling
Targus AWE79EU Chill Mini - The build quality of the cooling pad is great and it is beautifully sleek but it totally lacks at the main purpose - "Cooling"!. The air pushed out of the two fans can barely be felt and certainly does not offer cooling or air circulation with a laptop on top of it. Used it with an HP Pavilion DV6 15.6" Laptop. After a short duration (10-15 minutes) the top of the pad becomes hot from the laptop (yes, the pad becomes hot rather than the laptop base getting cooler!). Not sure what happens there, guessing that the air bounces back from laptop in or the opening at sides are not big enough to provide good enough CFM of air resulting in the hot/stale air coming out of the chill mat after sometime of usage. Tried it in different rooms to rule out room temperature or room air circulation issues if that had any effects but no changes in result. Would not recommend if your main need is for cooling. Only positives are lightness, sleek design and build quality.
