I bought this years ago to check for rust holes in vehicle frames and I've used it for all kinds of things since then. The balance is good, the handle is very comfortable, and above all else it's been very durable.

The other end has a pointed sharp tip which is also handy when chipping rocks etc. The rubber grip makes it easy to handle. I use this mostly for busting through the rocky, root-filled ground in my region & prying up huge stones or old bottles. It was also handy in prying up the hardy roots of the monstrous wisteria bush taking over the front yard. It's not too heavy and dense enough not to break, bend or chip when hitting chunks of granite in the earth.

I had been looking for a reliable, sturdy and inexpensive prospecting hammer for a few weeks when I found this on Amazon. On paper, it met all of my requirements, it is very rugged and tough, I've already used it to chip away at crevices in rocks in my prospecting adventures and I couldn't be happier with the results it provides. It's 22 ounces, and very strong, I don't need to worry about breaking it, the worst I can see happening is I will need to resharpen the pick after a few years. Other than that, I don't see any issues arising. The handle has a nice, solid rubberized grip to help ensure positive handling while using the hammer/pick, it's non-slip and really cushions the blows against your palm while you're using it. What a massive find, I can't say enough good things about this rock pick/hammer! The one drawback to it is you are only allowed to order one at a time. I wanted two so my wife can have her own while we're out prospecting, but that's not a big deal, I'll just order another one now that this one has arrived and proven itself worthy. Absolutely worth a 5-Star rating all-around!

I have rocks all over my yard both seen and unseen and not a tool goes undamaged. This hammer is great for making holes for planting bulbs, digging out small rocks, and testing whether I have a good spot to dig in. Even have used it to help crack some larger ones. I have put it through a lot without much disappointment and the only thing bad I can say about it is the handle slips off sometimes but slips back on easily.

I just bought my third one. I use it for welding and fabrication. The smooth head is great for massaging out dents in sheet metal and the pick is where the magic is. It's just a great hammer.

Not exactly a kids hammer, which it was bought for to go with a geology kit present …. But…. my six year old feels very important with his full size (heavy) rock hammer. It’s legit, not a toy! Needs a responsible user for sure, but very useful!
