Perfect for families
I'm a big fan of anything exploding kittens. This is a great addition that is not only family friendly, but is designed for parents to play with their children. It's a great way to introduce boardgames to your children and also have hours of fun. Would recommend!

My Parents Might Be Martians
I think overall we prefer the Exploding Minions game from the same brand - maybe because that involves more strategy which my kids love.On the plus side it's easy to learn, and I definitely think there weren't as many arguments as we've had with other board games. I quite liked the language and vocabulary aspect to it - having to think of single syllable words - and I think that appealed to my daughter as well. I think my son will like it more when he's a bit older and can take a turn at being the alien. On the negative side - the included megaphone made from cardboard was never going to last and it didn't hold their attention as long as other board games - they'll play Labyrinth and Exploding Minions for hours or until the arguing starts.

A Galactic Giggle with Family Game Night
🚀 Pros:Kid-friendly and engaging - Keeps the little ones in the loop at all times.Clear instructions - Separate guides for parents and kids take the guesswork out of gameplay.Affordable fun - At £14.99, it's a good price for a family game.👽 Cons:Component quality - While functional, the game pieces could be a tad sturdier.Right, let's get into it. I ordered the Exploding Kittens My Parents Might be Martians Family Card Game, and let me tell you, this isn't your run-of-the-mill family game night.First off, I loved the concept of having adults compete using the kids to score points. This means the kids are always involved and it doesn't get too complicated for them. Plus, our little one found it absolutely hilarious when we made mistakes - talk about a confidence boost for the kiddos! 🚸🤣In terms of gameplay, the instructions were super clear, with separate guides for parents and children covering everything you need to know. It took us no time at all to get the hang of the game and jump right into the fun. Now, onto the components. They're mostly cardboard, which isn't necessarily the best quality, but they're functional and do the job. The timer is a nice addition, and it really adds to the excitement of the game. All in all, at £14.99, I think this game offers excellent value for money. It's a blast to play, it's easy to understand, and it ensures everyone gets involved. If you're looking for a new addition to your family game night, the Exploding Kittens My Parents Might be Martians Family Card Game might just be a stellar choice! 🌟🎲

Nice concept of a game
This game is actually quite easy to play once you figure it out. When we played the kids never felt like there was a winning side which was very nice so no sulks or arguments. The megaphone was pretty useless but didn't affect our enjoyment of it. Easy to run out of cards though and we found ourselves repeating the same words.

Fun but simple game
I played this game with a group of adults, and it was really fun and fast paced. Here is how we adapted it: each person got one turn (one go of the egg timer) in which they were the Martian, and everyone yelled out answers at once. The person who guessed the word won a token, and the Martian got to keep the card, giving them both one point. Then it moved onto the next person, who became the Martian. After a full go-round, each person counted up their cards and tokens to see how many points they got. This makes it more fun and more competitive. It was enjoyable trying to work out the simplest way of describing the word with single syllables. e.g. dentist was "tooth man", and banana was "fruit curve".Another variation suggested would be if two people were joint Martians, and they took turns saying alternate words, which would be a great party game.It is a very simple game though. Our variations made it more fun, but playing it the way suggested would only work with children. Also the megaphone is flimsy and kind of useless, and the egg timer is a bit badly made. So if you want to use this idea as a jumping off point you could make more word cards (as with replaying, you will use up all the words), and add a better quality egg timer. I expect they will make an expansion pack as well, in due course.I haven't played their caveman game so I don't know how it compares. Having played Exploding Kittens a few times, what I did like about this one is that it didn't involve loads of quirky cartoons. I actually hate the cartoon style of Exploding Kittens, all that rainbow vomit and farting cats stuff.

Out of this world
As admittedly a self professed exploding kittens game-loving family, we couldn't resist trying out My Parents Might Be Martians. It comes with 150 kid-focused cards, a sand timer, 36 point tokens, and a megaphone, promising a pretty unique setup bound to get a few laughs from both the big and little kids.We delighted in the unique dynamic of Martians (adults) trying to communicate single-syllable clues to the Humans (kids). The challenge of deciphering the 'alien' speech within the timer's limit was both hilarious, causing waves of laughter around the table which didn’t get samey until a good few games in.The game, in its clever and entertaining way, effectively encourages improvement in language skills and teamwork - subtly but still very great to see.The game works well for family nights and serves as an excellent ice breaker for larger family gatherings too. My Parents Might Be Martians has succeeded in getting everyone off their electronics for a couple of evenings, making it an undeniable hit in our family game collection for me. It's an entertaining language based game that's truly out of this world!

Fun Silly Game for Family's and Young Children
This silly game is great for family nights with young children, it requires both adults and children to communicate in goofy ways. The game comes with a cute megaphone, prompt cards, tokens and a timer. I like that this game is simple in its parts of what's included and relies on the creativity of the individuals playing as the most important component. This game is best for family's with children between the ages of 4+ as recommended on the box. I can see how this may not be appealing for older children since it relies on the adults to get creative enough for the children to figure out the answer. I do like that this game creates a fun time for family's looking to engage with each other more in silly ways. This game creates the opportunity for parents to be less serious and work on different modes of communication with their children.

Cute game for very young children
So this basically seems to be the young child-friendly version of Poetry for Neanderthals (minus the bonking). It's a word guessing game where the kids must guess the word being described by the adults using only one-syllable words. It's timed, and the goal is to guess as many words as possible within that time. Sometimes it's more tricky than it would seem and it's so easy to slip-up if you're not careful. The game includes a timer, (paper) point tokens, and a megaphone. The megaphone is just a rounded piece of paper and nothing to truly get excited about. The megaphone basically acts as the conch from Lord of the Flies. It controls the shouting of answers from the children. It's intended to be given to the youngest player to provide the answers, but can also be used as way of ensuring that every child gets their turn to be responsible for providing the answer. The scoring system is designed in such a way that the children always win. The kids always get a point with every correct guess, but the adults can only gain points (holding the card) on their specific turn. However, if you have more than one adult playing, the game becomes a secondary competition between them. The young kids can get a kick out of the fact that they "won" and now the adults are struggling to take 2nd place.Overall, it's a very basic game and, especially with the fact that the kids are guaranteed to win, it won't likely hold the interest of older children for long. Younger kids will likely find it fun, especially if there are two adults who can make the game seem more competitive than it really is. I think the excitement of the game really comes down to how the adults deliver it. The more silly and competitive the adults can make the game, the better. As always, the presentation of the game contents is wonderful in typical Exploding Kittens style.

A good card game to play with your little ones
This is a fun game to play with your kids especially when their vocabulary is limited. The words are simple everyday words that are familiar to kids. I found that I had to be very specific at describing the word which is not only educational to me, but for my kid as well. The game is simple: the adult (me) will describe the word on the card, and the kid will try and guess that word. Along with a sand timer, it makes the game more challenging. You know what makes it even more challenging? Switching the roles! My little one cannot read yet so my wife had to tell him the word. Then it turns into a wild game of charades! Our family enjoyed games night with this card game and it really gets everyone thinking.

A fun and enjoyable addition to game night for everyone.
I've heard nothing but good things from the Exploding kittens line of games so I thought I would try My Parents Might be Martians by Exploding Kittens. Very simple premise; Talk in one syllable to get the kids to guess words. It is very thoughtfully laid out. Accounted for many scenarios and flexible in game play so you know they test these with real kids. Good card stock and selection of word complexity. An excellent way to enjoy game night, a lot of fun and a lot of laughs.

This is a great game for parents and kids to play together!
My family played this together, and as I have two teenagers, we played first with my husband and I being the martians first and with the kids guessing, and then vice versa. It was a lot of fun! It's actually quite challenging to be the martian and have to give clues using only one syllable! There are 150 cards in the pack which you have to describe using only one syllable words while the other side has to guess in the alloted time. The timer and the megaphone are both not of the highest quality, but it's easy enough to just use a timer on someone's phone, and we just didn't use the megaphone at all. If you play a lot, you will run out of cards or start repeating the cards, so my teens actually started creating some of their own cards and that was a lot of fun too. In all, this was a really easy game to learn, and a super fun game that our family has played and enjoyed many times now!
