DOSNTO Wilo Star S21 RFC 4171560 - Three Speed hydronic Radiant Floor 115-Volt Circulating Pump Water Circulator

I bought this to replace a Taco 008 that failed. The rotating flanges allow an easy replacement of both Taco and Grunfos pumps which have a 90 degree difference in flange orientation.Though I have the Wilo mating flanges I reused the Taco flanges. Overall length is the same too. Very easy swap.The Wilo pump is 3 speed which is good for me, I need to run it at low speed because my in floor heat has small lines and they are long. The Taco pump was off its curve and it took out the bearings. A Taco cartridge was about the same price as this Wilo S21RFC pump.This pump is very quiet. Hard to hear it running. The casting quality and construction is much better than The Taco. The Wilo 21 is designed in Germany and built in France.Two minor complaints;1. The plastic rotary speed switch knob is cheap. I broke it so I have to change speed with needle nose pliers. On the good side it is tamper proof now!2. The wire terminals are quick connect spring loaded type. I'm old school and would prefer a screw terminal. The junction box is a bit smaller than what I would like too, but its not unworkable. Careful cutting for wire length makes it a minor issue.Came with two flange gaskets and the rotatable pump flanges but pipe mating flanges you have to buy separate (Taco or Wilo both fit). Came with good instructions if you need them.For $122 delivered in two days (Prime) I think it is good valueHope that helps someone... Rock on.

I bought these circulators because I realized the person who designed my in floor radiant system had specified the wrong type of circulators (low head), namely Taco 005s. As a result, flow through my floor was very low and the system couldn't keep up on the coldest days. I decided to try these and they made a huge difference.They are a bit tricky to install because the installation is very flexible (you can rotate the flanges, rotate the cartridge, etc). This is good but it makes them not exactly a drop in replacement. I do worry about the life expectancy of the supplied gasket. Also, some orientations of the motor interfere interfere with the flange, which is why the orientation is so weird.Overall, I highly recommend these circulators.
