The Firm Soundtrack (Piano Solo / Vocal)

I was looking for the track 'Ray's Blues', but the version in this album is only 3 pages long and I am aware of a longer one. Otherwise, a great soundtrack of piano pieces.

This music book is excellent. The one thing to bear in mind, though - I sightread well, play the piano for a living, but find this music quite difficult to play. If you're not grade 8 or above, it wouldn't really be worth the effort. Otherwise - really good modern, US style jazz.

I ordered this book with the CD of the soundtrack and I am a little disappointed, after reading the reviews on the product page. I thought I was purchasing accurate transcriptions of the Dave Grusin pieces based on the CD of the soundtrack. Most of the pieces are not complete and have sections of improvisation that are not transcribed. Although disappointed there is a lot of good learning material in this book.

The soundtrack music for the film "The firm" was pretty amazing. Most of the peices you would have heard were composed by a guy called Dave Grusin. Dave Grusin is a Contemporary Jazz composer who is capable of writing beautiful (but at times difficult!) blues, stomps and funks. The Dave Grusin pieces, that are transcribed onto this book, will definatley be useful to have in a person's Jazz repetiore- "Memphis Stomp" and "How could you lose me? End title" will impress any listener I'm sure. The music itself would probably be playable by a pianist above the grade 5 standard (not beginners); as some peices will proove very demanding. Overall, its a fantastic book if you are a keen to expand an impressive jazz repetiore!

Clearly the product description is confusing . I thought I was purchasing a CD, NOT sheet music . If Amazon can now send me the CD version of this music , I will be very impressed with their service, and will return the sheet music at my expense, and pay any difference between the two products .I have found Amazon to be quite good normally in respect of returns , and await with interest , their response to this misunderstanding.D.J.Higgins.
