Must read for primary teachers!
I really loved this book. I’ve been teaching for four years in first grade and it was a good refresher on what phonics is and how important it is for a child to learn to read. I also thought it was extremely interesting how it had the history of teaching phonics and how much has changed in years. If you are a K-3 teacher this is a must read! It has ideas and activities you can do in the classroom and ways to differentiate the struggling readers.

This book is exactly what any teacher from K-3 needs. It explains the basics that any new teacher needs to know and works great as a reference for veteran teachers. It does an amazing job of explain the basics and then diving in deeper. It’s full of great resources and activities always providing examples of any concept and then providing activities for application. This is a must have book in any primary teacher’s personal library!

For teachers only
The colors and fun view in addition to the positive reviews confused me into thinking this book was for parents too. And while I am reading it as a parent, its clear that it's for teachers and other primary educators. One thing that I found odd for a book that claims to be a "practical guide" was the amount of fluff to start the book. There is nothing practical to the first chapter or two. Anyway, it's very comprehensive and details ways to start. I just wanted to warn parents or others that might consider this book, that it's mainly for educators.Its around 320 pages.
