accurate hardness testing
works great. I added black & white streak plates along with other tests items to make it possible to identify rocks and minerals that I have collected over the years. much more accurate than trying to put a hardness kit together from everyday items

Helps a great deal with mineral hardness accuracy
This is a great kit and really has helped me to identify a lot of minerals that I have found, at least within .5 accuracy. Unfortunately, it is the only game in town so you will over pay for it if you want it. This kit should sell for about, maybe, $80.00 tops. However, it does the job and, hopefully over time, I can justify the cost by the amount of use that I get out of it. It did arrive missing a magnet that was supposed to be included. That and the cost caused me to deduct a star from the rating. Hopefully some competition will arrive to get the price down to a more realistic level.
