Since I didn't have a gallbladder i decided to take to help out the liver.... but the taste and smell..not too good but if it's gonna help I can bare it. Would rather drink capsules maybe less smell or taste. Still taking so I can't review yet.

Milk thistle contains a flavonoid compound called silymarin that may act as a liver protectant and is associated with liver health. Most studies on milk thistle looked at standardized extracts that contained 70-80% silymarin extracted from the seeds of the milk thistle plant. Evidence suggests that milk thistle extracts may reduce liver toxicity related to chemotherapy may protect the liver from damage from toxins like acetaminophen. Most clinical studies used about 200 milligrams of extract 2 to 3 times per day. Since silymarin stimulates the liver and gallbladder it may cause loose stools in some people for a short duration. Milk thistle should only be taken under the guidance and supervision of a qualified healthcare practitioner. That is the lowdown on this supplement. Like all supplements, make sure you read up, calculate dosage per day and follow-up with you doctor. The taste was tolerable and no issue swallowing. I followed reccomendations for dosage and have not noticed any side effects. I have taken milk thistle in capsule form for many years and I always preferred a liquid version to a solid capsule. Absorbtion is much better. I liked the product and will put it into my daily regiment of supplements.

I have never done a liver cleanse or detox before so this is a first for me. The instructions are to use a full squeeze of dropper added to two ounces water or juice, twice per day. A full squeeze is less than half a dropper. Even though there is vegetable glycerin (often used as a sweetener but no nutritional benefit) added I did not detect any sweetness or any taste in water at all. I primarily bought this for my dog who has just completed two weeks of antibiotics and I need to help her get her gut back to normal. This Herbana liver support is safe for her because there is no alcohol, no sugars no added junk only beneficial ingredients and made in the US. I'm rating it 5 stars because it is much better quality than the dog milk thistle I used last year which had clumps in it. I don't know if there is any way to determine if it is effective unless you have liver issues and get tested regularly.

I have noticed as I have gotten older that my tolerance for alcohol has gotten lower and lower. To the point where I can't even enjoy a glass of wine with dinner. I started taking a milk thistle supplement about a year ago in pill form and noticed after a few weeks I didn't have this tolerance issue anymore. But I slowly stopped taking it because... the supplement pills add up and I get tired of taking 10 different supplements a day plus my prescriptions. With this liquid extract I simply put it in my coffee in the morning. It doesn't seem to have any flavor or texture. It also seems to work better, more quickly, than the pill form. I had been taking it for about a week, though I forgot a few days, and after having one glass of wine on Easter with dinner I could tell the difference. I love being able to have a glass of wine without the major headache and icky feeling an hour later.
