Effective with minimal discomfort.
Helps hold in an inguinal hernia. I use this with and without the bulb, depending on how much I'm on my feet & how much walking i do. Works well during yard work and the gym by installing it inside old running shorts and under dress clothes usually without the extra bulb.

Nice firm cushion holds hernia in check
Nice hernia belt. Does what its supposed to while I await hernia surgery in 1.5 months. It keeps a small cushion firmly placed where the inguinal hernia is (in my case left side), it alleviates pain and/or the prospect of hernia getting worse. I'm pretty active and this seems to work perfectly to keep everything "in check" as I frequently need to bend over or crouch down to pick up my 3 small dogs (9-15 lbs), go on walks, or ride the exercise bike. I'm not doing weight lifting or playing golf with it (that can wait for post op after recovery), but life is more manageable again. FYI I'm 6ft 205 lbs male and the small/medium fits great as you'll want it to be tight. Velcro holds nicely. Had to buy some boxer briefs to help with that strap around the leg, which I'd say is optional. If youre experiencing an inguinal hernia and waiting for surgery, you'll wish you had this, this is a life saver. Not sure why my doctor didn't recommend one but glad I found it on Amazon. Edit after surgery: After hernia surgery, you will not need this belt anymore, which is fine, bc you'll be on the road to recovery. I'm on week 5 post op and here's some tips to get thru it. Days 1-3 are the worst, bending over is an absolute nightmare, so if something drops on floor (like even a sock, etc) I'd recommend having a grabber tool handy, you can get one for $9 on Amazon. Also learn from me bc I had a setback at week 4, I was hunched over to clip my toenails and my lower back went out. Its because they cut thru the deep core abdominal muscles to do the surgery. So just watch out with leaning and bending over. Its technically called acute lumbar back spasm and its excruciating. I'm still healing from the lower back now at week 5. So watch out and use that grabber tool to grab things down low. Raise your foot up to a bench or chair to put shoes on etc. Docs didn't warn me about this but I am. I was healthy/athletic b4 this and meant nothing. Good luck people. You can do this.

Worked great while waiting on hernia surgery
I got this belt after a recommendation from my PCC nurse to help support my hernia while waiting on repair surgery. I work in construction and spend a lot of my day lifting and moving things, and the belt allowed me to do everything I needed to do with a little discomfort. Other than a little bunching and a perma-wedgie, it worked great! Pros: - Worked as described, kept inguinal hernia from bulging while engaging in every day activities. - Easy to remove and put on as required, even without removing pants. - Good quality, did not come apart or have any issues other than normal wear and tear. Cons: - Uncomfortable, lower strap caused a persistent wedgie which was even more annoying because I wear boxers. As uncomfortable as it was however, it was 1000x better than the discomfort of the hernia bulging if I did not wear it. - When wearing the ball, caused a protrusion in the front that looked like an erection. Which is fine and actually made for a few good jokes and laughs with my line of work, but in polite company may be a little awkward.

This brand work well for me.
This one helps a lot. The belt is wide enough to not fold into. The pad and pocket work well. It has a belt that stretches so it fits well. I bought two other brands, however, this is the one that keeps my right sided inquinal hernia in place until surgery.

Life saver
I don’t write reviews, but this thing deserves one. My hernia surgery is scheduled three months from now but it was becoming unbearable in my day to day life. I work construction and it was getting harder every day. When I wear this I have zero discomfort and I am able to perform to my fullest. I am so thankful for this product. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Thank you

Needs improving
This works but comes with design flaws. The built-in pad is on the outside of the belt instead of the inside where it would be more effective. The additional insert pad is way too thick for comfort and the bulge is definitely not discreet. The hook end of the Velcro belt is not tapered and just as wide as hook end. If not lined up exactly, a corner will dig into your skin. Finally, the strap for holding the pad down starts in back (side), passes at the groin to a loop in front, and then doubles back down along the groin. Again, the end is not tapered and a corner will poke you in an uncomfortable place. Designed by someone who never wore it I suspect.

Most Effective
Could not believe the relief this product gave me. So far just pre-op, but it has made my life much easier. Maybe sizes run a little small. but not be much if so.

It works
Used this belt along with my weight belt. Don't feel a thing along with lifting heavy objects and also working out.

After comparisons, the best one to get
There are compromises with all of these hernia belts because what they are trying to accomplish is awkward at best. But having tried 5-6 different styles and brands, this one stands out for it's effectiveness, construction and durability - so for being the best of things that are never truely great, it gets 5-stars Note: Be sure to wash and run it through the clothes dryer regularly - this keeps it clean (obviously) but also "re-tightens" the elastic fibers restoring a snug fit.
