IMS Big Bang Precision Filter Basket for 58mm portafilters, 18-20g. double espresso (h23.5)

This basket is excellent quality. I've had two of them for over a year. Dialing in espresso effectively is all about eliminating as many variables as possible. These baskets deliver that in spades. They're also super easy to clean and they fit in my portafilter perfectly.

For a couple of bucks more, you can get an IMS Big Bang basket! Why is it better? It’s made by IMS, one of the best espresso basket makers (look it up on Wikipedia). The sides and bottom of the baskets are flat making them a tighter fit in your portofilter, the holes are uniform and cut even for a better flow. These are the real deal - competition grade. Every new espresso machine should come with an IMS Big Bang basket, old machines too!

This basket is one of my daily drivers for both of my espresso machines. It enhances fruit notes and brightens espresso from natural and other dry process beans. It allows for finer grind and still maintain proper water flow. Very easy to use; just snap it into your portafilter and go at it. Cleaning is a breeze as the holes don't get blinded after pulling a shot. Other high efficiency baskets suffer from that, and often require use of a bottom filter to help with cleaning. This one doesn't have that problem. Only down side I see is that it is not magnetic, so if you use a funnel, you have to be careful not to knock it off while attaching to grinder holder or when transferring grounds into it. This makes it 4 star in my book.

Materials and design both are excellent. Works great with the Rancilo bottomless portafilter.

I have a number of espresso baskets--IMS, E&B, Big bang, baristapro.... If you want a true classic style of espresso, then this is the basket you want. It focuses on crema and gives you a Nice, full body mouthfeel--The only thing that comes close are the newer 58 mm to 49 mm step down baskets. Additionally, it gives you a big sweet spot when you're making espresso. In other words, if you have an issue with your grind or your puck prep it's not going to matter so much. I believe this basket has 580 holes versus a standard IMS basket that has 710.

Works as described, easy to remove from the portafilter and clean. Easily holds 18 grams of coffee.

With a portafilter from the La Marzocco, shots pull fine (though finer grind is needed). However, the basket easily falls out so you should check if flat sided baskets are OK for your machine. Reasonably priced if you want to experiment and not so much that you'd regret it if it made no difference. You can see in the photo that the standard LM basket (left) has a raised profile that is designed to lock into stiff wires in the handle. The Big Bang doesn't have that feature and so it has to rely on friction alone. If you like the basket you could easily shim it for a better fit, but just be aware if your handle relies on this sort of retention mechanism.

This basket is a good, general purpose basket that's good at creating "pretty" shots with the classic rat tail visual, due to its unusual hole distribution. It's also (purposely) not a high flow basket, so it's good at doing flow profile shots or darker roasts. It fits a variety of portafilters, and is easy to clean. A great basket if you need the features.

Nano sepetlerdeki gibi kusursuz bir yapışmama özelliği beklememeniz gerekiyor. Sanırım bu yapışmaz kaplama bu sepetlerde mevcut değil. Orta tarafa yapışmazken çoğunlukla sepet kenalarında kahve yapışıyor. Tüm bunlara rağmen güzel bir sepet. Fakat Wafo veya Weber tarzı sepetlerin performansını beklemek büyük bir hayal kırıklığı yaratabilir...

Excellent. Did exactly what I thought. Because there are more holes and they are positioned closer to the edge of the basket, the basket passes the water through it much faster than the basket that came with my Profitec Move espresso machine. So, you have to grind finer and the water will extract more flavour on its way through the puck. If you want to improve your shots, get one of these.

The IMS Big Bang 58mm basket has quickly become one of my favorite upgrades for espresso. What stands out most is its consistency - shot after shot, the extraction is even and predictable, which makes dialing in much easier and far less frustrating.
