Elope Scallywag Pirate Hat (Black)-Standard

I like this! I'm using it for Halloween and I read all the other reviews before I bought it. It does run a bit large but only without a bandanna or other pirate-y head covering under it. I also had to reshape the wire a bit but that is understandable considering that it was in a box. The colors are fantastic and it feels pretty sturdy. It doesn't feel leathery like I hoped it would (it feels fuzzy almost) but it looks leathery from a distance. Overall this is an AWESOME hat!

Most hats are to small for me and my son yet these fit perfectly. They are sturdy and are well made, which is so much better than any other hat of it's genera that can be bought. The hats by Elope are inexpensive making them quite a deal. I first bought a hat by Elope at a Renaussance Fair in Washington and was quite impressed by it. I was extremely happy to see that I could find such hats on Amazon. The tricorn hat is quite a costume hat for the period time it represents. It is probably great for LARP, although I have never done that. It is definitely the hat for Seafair in Seattle, Halloween, and appropriate costume parties. I certainly give the hat high marks.

Fits a bit large; I wear 6-3/4 size. Does have elastic in the hatband which helps, though I think I may place some felt strips inside that just to make it a bit more snug. This hat isn't really "good" hat quality, but I've seen and tried much worse. The condition of the hat upon arrival required me reshaping it to a smoother condition, but other than that, it's pretty darned good!

I've bought this hat more than once. It's sturdy. It's large but not horrible. I use foam weather stripping on the inside of the rim to make it fit just right. I still have the original one from about 3 years ago and bought this one for a friend so we would have matching hats.

This hat feels like a combination of stiff thin leather and cotton. It's a dark brown with a sort of goldish bronze paint sprayed on it to give it a used/weathered look (I rather like that part). But it's very, very big as in wide brimmed. It encompasses my cranium quite well but the rolled up brim sticks out a lot and makes my head look really tiny! I'm debating on sending it back because of that...but then again, I may keep it because I like the color. Maybe with enough feathers I can compensate for it's overall hugeness.Did I mention that this tricorn is big?

I'm buying parts for a legit looking pirate costume for Halloween costum (trying to get it now before items go up in price)right of the bat it's 100% polyester it's like a dark gold and black color, it's light and for me (a 29 year old male) it was a lttle bit big, I might have to get a bandana to wear under it.In the picture it looks leather but it's just the way colors come together and give it that wore out look. For 20 something dollars is not a bad buy.

I purchased this hat for Talk Like a Pirate Day 2012 at my bar. Very durable and can be re-shaped if needed. The color is not exactly a full black but more black with specks of brown. Also the overall size is a bit large for most hats- but can really make a statement.

Not sure that I'd wear it more than once a year. I don't think it's designed for cosplay. I think it's designed to be a once-a-year item. Looks just like the picture and fits well.
