is the tent floor waterproof?

The floor is 6000mm so as water proof you would get. However if you plan to be camping when it is really wet I would opt for having an extra ground sheet just in case. If the floor and then the sleeping bag gets wet your trip will not be fun or even dangerous...

does this tent have any air vents?

There are two, midge proof vents in the inner at the far end from the door and the door on the inner has a large panel which can be unzipped leaving a net vent which is almost half of the door. The fly has a vent which can be held open by a small velcro covered stiffener. I have used the tent in the Scottish Highlands in winter and summer and love it. It is heavy compared to a lot of backpacking tents but I feel very safe in it when it is wet and windy. The TBS system really does provide stability. The inner tent is very robust and allows a good airflow under the fly and out of the vent removing the risk of condensation while leaving the environment inside the inner dry and secure. It is not the tent if you are long distance walking but if you want to use it as a roomy secure basecamp in the mountains it is perfect.

I presume the inner can be detached from the outer to facilitate packing separately??

Yes. Although I find it quite useful to fold it all together. Saves you having to button it every time and if it's dry, shouldn't be a problem. There's only one bag, though, so if you want to pack separately, you'd have to find another bag.
