The Art and Soul of Dune: Part Two

One of my new favorite books in my collection! The detail the care, the in-depth photos and renderings. Denis Villeneuve’s artistic direction with his vision of the dune anthology is visually spectacular in this book is a great accompanying piece of that. If you are looking for a great coffee table book to take your loved one step further highly recommend this one.

Great coffee table book.

Frank Herbert did not write overly simplified novels akin to the deluge of YA tomes we are drowning under. He wrote complex, interwoven stories featuring fascinating, fully developed characters, plots and conflicts. I enjoyed Lynch’s film adaptation, even though it strayed a bit from the source material (the weirding way). And I even liked the miniseries adaptation of the first two books on Sci-Fi channel. However, Denis Villeneuve’s two-part film of the first book is truly a masterwork. And I look forward to his vision for Dune Messiah, and (hopefully) Children of Dune. He brings complex stories to modern audiences in understanding, yet challenging, ways. His adaptation of the short story, The Story of Us, that he turned into the thought provoking film, Arrival, challenged viewers to use their brains. He doesn’t spoon-feed you overly simplified, sugar-coated science fiction. Even his Bladerunner 2049 film found a way to continue Ridley Scott’s immersive story while branching out into new territory. And these companion books by Tanya Lapointe provide a wonderful insight into Villeneuve’s mind and vision. In fact, Ms. Lapointe is married to Denis, and serves as a producer on his films. So her perspective is not garnered from reading a brochure from the studio’s marketing department. She has been there throughout the creative process, even long before sets were built, costumes designed and cameras rolled. So if you found Dune Part One or Part Two confusing, these companion books will help you sort it all out. If nothing else they’ll help you dive into the immensely complex world of a creative storyteller.

Great book

Review: The book itself is absolutely stunning and impressive in every way, content, design, and quality of print. However, I was disappointed to find that the copy I received had two dents on the corners. Considering I paid for a brand-new and stylish product, I didn’t expect to receive something in less-than-perfect condition. The packaging clearly wasn’t sufficient to protect the book during transit, which is frustrating for customers who value pristine condition for their purchases. I strongly suggest improving the protective measures for shipping to ensure the product arrives as expected. A great book deserves better care.

Wonderul gift if you're a big fan of this saga, it came in perfect conditions and without tears

Packaging is insufficient to protect the book during delivery. I've reordered twice and each time the corners have been damaged. It's a very expensive book to be damaged on arrival. Please package books better.

Absolutely gorgeous book. 4 stars because product came a lil dented on the corners, but for the price, its super worth. No regrets buying and delivery was right on time!! Would give the book itself a 100/10
