DPHue & Four Reasons: FR wins for toning; DPHue wins for color saturation
Update: After not using this for about 7 months to let my hair settle down and to gradually cut off a few inches at a time (I cut my own hair now too), I tried this mask again this morning as my hair was just looking blah and I don't want to go to a salon for color. To experiment, I just dampened my hair, then applied a good blob of this to work into my hair, put on a shower cap, and left it on for about 10-12 minutes. The result is beautiful. Natural. Gave my hair a boost. It very slightly colored some of my greys (I don't have a lot, maybe 20-30%, if guessing) and since my greys are scattered about here and there, it made them look a bit like highlights! My hair is shiny, soft, and has some body. Yay! I'm going to next time try leaving it in for maybe 20 minutes and see what happens. But likely 15 minutes will be just right. Also, I read it is safe to use 1-2x a week - I may try a few times a month, but every so often use a clarifying shampoo so there is no build-up in my hair. LOVE IT! Increasing my 4 stars to 5. DPHue may still win out for saturation but I still like this FR chocolate color better. ------- I usually use DPHue for a color conditioner but tried this Four Reasons since it was on a Prime Deal sale. Hair issue: I had my super baby fine medium brown hair colored on impulse and the stylist made it too 'warm' - as in it looked a little too gold toned and almost brassy --I tried to like it as the color was done very well using Aveda products, but the gold/reddish tone is what I'd said I did not want. I went back to the salon about 2 months later and she said she could put a toner in it and it would cost around $30. Okay, I spent a lot on the color that I didn't like but I figured $30 more to tone it down would be a good idea. However, she put in the toner and it was in my hair for less than 5 minutes--maybe 2 or 3--before she rinsed it out. Okay. $30 for 2-3 minutes of toning, or I could spend around that much for color conditioner that I can use for months! Lesson learned. Both Four Reasons and DPHue condition the hair about the same--if you have super baby fine hair as I do, then you'll be okay with the conditioning aspects. However, if I leave the color mask on for a little longer, I'd condition before or after. If you have dry hair or coarse hair, you may want to use a separate conditioner before or after. DPHue deposits a deeper color - their cool medium brown was darker than this chocolate brown. I like the shine and deep color that DPHue gives me, but it was a little too dark and their light brown was too light. This FR chocolate brown seemed to be closer to my natural medium brown hair color, and as well worked to tone down the hair color I didn't like after the toner my stylist applied began to wash out. I did worry that FR's chocolate would be too 'warm,' as in reddish, which is what I didn't want. However, it didn't go "gold brassy reddish" like the color the stylist applied and instead was closer to my brown that naturally has some warm tones to it. There's a difference between warm pretty brown with some warm tones and the 'gold-reddish' tones that can read brassy in certain light. So I was fine with the warm chocolate brown tones this FR gave my hair. DPHue stained things (my hands, whatever it touched) a lot more than Four Reasons. Likely because DPHue is a semi-perm mask that applies deep color and this FR is a toning treatment that also deposits some color. I didn't have as much staining on my hands with FR, and FR washed away from my hands easier than with DPHue. According to what you need either DPHue or Four Reasons will work: if you want a deeper longer lasting color that even colors some greys, then DPHue is the better choice. If you want to tone down a color that looks too gold or brassy, then Four Reasons does the job well but it won't cover grey very much at all. I like DPHue's color saturation better and for the greys I have, DPHue covered them better by a long shot, while FR chocolate brown doesn't look as harshly dark and worked more to tone out those brassy tones. But once this tube is empty, I'll likely experiment with DPHue colors again to find the one (or ones, as you can mix them) that works with my hair for more color saturation. DPHue wins in the color saturation area, especially grays. But Four Reasons wins in the toning area without making my hair too dark. If you use as directed - not too often, etc - you can use color depositing conditioners to keep your hair looking rich and shiny and beautiful without having to go to a salon (where the prices are becoming ridiculously expensive!). Unless you have a lot of grey that you want to cover, these conditioners do the job very well.

Highly recommended!
I’m very happy with the Color Mask Champagne Blonde Hair Gloss & Color Depositing Conditioner. It’s the perfect product for refreshing my blonde color between salon visits. The shade adds a beautiful champagne-toned glow while helping to neutralize unwanted yellow tones, leaving my hair looking fresh and vibrant. What I love most is that it not only enhances the color but also conditions the hair deeply. After each use, my hair feels soft, smooth, and incredibly shiny. The application is quick and easy, and the results look natural and even. This product is a great way to maintain a bright, healthy-looking blonde at home without damaging the hair. Highly recommended for anyone looking to boost shine, revive their color, and keep their blonde looking salon-fresh! ✨💛

Just fine. Not a bad product but not anything special.
I chose the coffee color to help neutralize the red in my hair from years of dying it copper-brown then going back to my natural color which is a cool medium brown. The coffee shade is blueish purple though, so beware. However, it leaves your hair a nice cool coffee brown color. It rinses out within three or four washes, and this bottle only lasted me two uses, which just isn’t worth it to me considering it’s 30 dollars. It’s not a bad product at all though, I just wish it either lasted longer or wasn’t so expensive. The price just isn’t worth it for how long it lasts and how much I have to use for my thick head of hair.

Very vibrant, use gloves.
I’ve used this product before but another color. I misread that it was a toning mask. The other one I used was a conditioner. Definitely use gloves because this stained my hands and my face. This was the before, started from bleached hair that had pastel pink in it not box dye. I was able to achieve almost a burgundy red with purple undertones. In some lights it looks like a dark pink but others it looks like magenta wine red. I left it barely 5 minutes and was able to achieve this color. Highly recommend. It’s such a beautiful color and my hair still felt soft and not damaged, my curls were still intact also.

Wish it worked for me like it does for some others :(
Well it did tone a few of my white gray hairs but then it fades out in a day or so - wish my hair did take this toner better as the color is lovely and I can’t find anything comparable for gray hair…. It also seemed to dry out my hair or at least not make it shiny or glossy - maybe my hair isn’t more dry than before applying, but certainly isn’t softer or moisturized. Not surprised as the feel of the product doesn’t seem to have any emolients that I can detect - if it worked for me then I would happily pay the price or more!! Had to take a chance and try it, and I did follow directions - and see from reviews that it does work for some with gray/white hair so perhaps their hair was in better condition to begin with. Also I used a clarifying shampoo before as recommended, but think I’d try skipping that step if tried it again as perhaps that’s what really dried it out worse. It’s worth a try as you can return it if doesn’t work. That’s what I’m doing so I hope to be approved for a refund.

Completely worth it!
I have naturally medium/dark brunette hair, extremely fair skin. Have partial highlights. My roots are growing out and I was trying to stretch the time in between touch-ups to save money. I was happy and impressed even after the first use. People even asked me if I had gotten my hair done even though I felt like it was a subtle difference from only one use. As I continued to use the product the compliments still rolled in. It helped eliminate some of the golden or brassy tones which I don’t like. Leaves hair feeling soft and smooth.

Love...love...love! It saved my blonde!
Highly recommend! Neutralized the yellowish brassiness in my beige blonde hair. Base, highlights and lowlights look so natural, toned, shiny, and healthy. If you have porous hair like I do, do a strand test, and start with 3-5 minutes. 4 minutes did it for me without tuning muddy, grey, or dark, as porous hair soaks up color like a sponge. You don't want to over tone, so start by leaving it on just a few minutes. Finish with cold water rinse to seal the cuticle of hair and more shine. The vanilla shade is perfect, as it has both cool and warm tones, a true natural beige blonde. So glad I found this-- will definitely buy again!

True review according to my experience
Important information to know about this product: MUST wear gloves & use petroleum jelly around your hairline/ears because IT WILL STAIN YOUR SKIN (including your scalp); don’t use this product in your shower/tub or sink - IT WILL STAIN THEM; application will be less messy if using a hair application bowl & brushes in addition to your hands; rinsing this product from your hair after application should be done over a stainless steel kitchen sink & faucet sprayer with cool water; this purple has a BLUE undertone (my original salon purple had a pink undertone). I followed the instructions & started with freshly washed towel-dried hair, but allowed the product to sit for 35min before rinsing it off in my kitchen sink (I wore disposable gloves for both the application & rinsing the product out, and used an old towel to blot my colored hair dry - I didn’t notice any color transfer, but it could happen, so be warned). My hair does feel slightly drier, but I use a little bit of a hair oil so it still has a bit of shine. This product will not cover gray hairs & it’s not meant for unbleached dark brown/black hair. I may come back & update this review if there’s any color bleed & how long the color was retained. I posted 2 pics: in the gray shirt one this is my hair after using this product; in the purple shirt one is my hair immediately after my salon color was done. The color is brightest where I’ve had my hair previously lightened by my salon artist.
