Exo TerraWire Light, Large, 250W - Heat-Resistant Porcelain Socket, Safe Wire Guard, Ideal for Ceramic Heaters & Incandescent Bulbs

We purchased this fixture to house a ceramic heat emitter for our bearded dragon habitat.Currently, I'm using a 100w emitter, but may increase to a 160W the next go around (still working out the nuances of our habitat).Anyway, this clamp fixture is ok. It basically functions as it needs to, but the clamp itself is too thin and not strong enough to adequately position well on the lamp stand (ZooMed - see my review on that item). And, the neck (the part before where the bulb socket is) doesn't adjust to different angles, which would be helpful. There is a screw and wing nut, which might lead one to think that it's somehow adjustable, but the (low) quality of the manufacturing just doesn't allow for much utility. Doesn't seem like it would take too much more, manufacturing-wise, to actually produce an excellent rather than mediocre product.At any rate, this fixture helps prevent heat build-up with the ceramic heat emitter and is the recommended product for such items.NOTE: We are new to reptile ownership. When I purchased the heat emitter bulb, I was going to house it in a dual mini-combo dome UNTIL I read the instructions, which said NOT to use CHEs in that product. The very nice sales associate at Petco did not inform me of that restriction. It's a safety issue. This wire clamp lamp fixture is what you need for CHEs.

I buy these fixtures because they are recommended for ceramic heat emitters. They seem very well put together with a sturdy wire frame and wire hanger that does not easily detach. It also comes with a clamp that seems strong and solid. I do not use the clamp, I prefer to hang lights and heaters. The porcelain socket looks like good quality. The wire cage is about 7 inches in diameter the fixture is about 9-1/2 inches tall. I have noticed over the years that the plastic grommet that protects the cord where it enters the socket tends to get brittle and break apart. Doesn’t seem like something that should impact the rating though. I recommend these fixtures to any reptile hobbyist.

Best experience so far for a clamp style lamp. I usually loathe all clamp lamps, but this one is doing great compared to other brands. I really appreciate the on/off switch being lit up if the lamp is off. Make sure to check the tightening screw area when you get it. Shipping might make it a little too loose. Happy lizard, happy customer.

This is a really nice wire clamp lamp. I shopped around looking at some of the other brands and it was readily apparent that the fit and finish of this one was a cut above. I'm currently using it with a 60W CHE and a Zoo Med lamp stand and it makes for a solid and reliable setup to maintain night temps or to supplement your daytime temps. I've been using it every night for about a month and I have only good things to say. This definitely makes my list of terrarium essentials for the keeper that wants the best for their pets.

The last one i had had issues with warping and being just larg enough to fit the bulb but small enough that the cage area touched the bulb ever so slightly. this one is not only larger but does not have the severe warping problem and gives the bulb wide birth.

Was struggling to keep the heat at an appropriate level & grabbed this so I could add a ceramic heat emitter to my setup. I'm able to rest it on the top of the screen & there is still enough clearance that the mesh doesn't get hot

This product arrived as advertised, well packaged, and in good condition. The clamp itself and the fixture seem sturdy and durable, and are flexible enough to accommodate any angle. It is used in our new iguana enclosure as we have not yet fitted the top of the enclosure for exterior heat lamps and needed something in the interim that would keep them warm while ensuring they do not come in contact with the ceramic 150 bulb we are using. The clamp has withstood any attempts by the iguanas to climb or disrupt it.Highly recommend.

Does as expected, holds the light, prevents heat build up and has an on/off switch.For information, Exo terra have become confusing with their products through lately, which amazon isn't helping with there product listings. Some preview images for this show it with a clamp. I believe this is for the US version of the wire light. The UK version comes with, as you would expect a UK plug and NO CLAMP. It is meant to be used with the light bracket, which you have to purchase separately and once fitted can't easily be moved. It's a shame that this doesn't come with the clamp and the ability to use it with the light bracket for flexibility. I'm not sure that if you receive a clamp version that it will allow you do to both and you would need a converter.The wire is a little short on this. I have it plugged in at the other side of the tank and it only just reaches, with the wire dangling out front rather then neatly tucked away from view.

This is a great item for use on top on mesh lids, such as those used by exo terra and zoo med, and work perfect with the ceramic heat emitters. Use along side the stand to elevate the heater and a thermostat to control. This prevents excessive heat in one spot so is perfect for tropical tanks such as ATBs or GTPs while still reaching the desired temp.This comes with an EU plug, which wasn't an issue for me and adaptors can be readily picked up, although this should probably be made slightly clearer.

I am not here to bash this product; however I do feel I need to show you my complete experience.I have ordered the Exo Terra product while I was in a hurry. I expected it to arrive on time; but in didn't. -1 for Amazon in this area.The packaging was spot on; nice one.But...when I opened the package; it took me a while before I discovered that the product was incomplete (I did not receive the bracket that you have to use to connect the ceramic heat emitter to the wire clamp). After carefully studying the Exo Terra site, I have also seen that this product comes in two flavors: UK and rest of the world. Why? I really don't know (I'm sure it has nothing to do with the power outlets). So please be aware and use google first before you are ordering (and shipping internationally) your product.The product's quality is ok; nothing spectacular. I will not be using it in the long run. And like I have said; I had to figure out a way to replace the missing bracket. I like to DIY, but not under pressure and when it comes to essentials for your animals.
