Not the Best
As a knife fanatic I was greatly looking forward to this volume. I immediately purchased it via Kindle shortly after receiving an email notification (I am on Franco's mailing list). Based on some of Franco's other works -- I personally own more than a dozen of his books -- I had very high hopes.Unfortunately those hopes were not met. This book is an odd conglomeration of very basic knife tips, broad blade suggestions and a handful of training ideas, sandwiched between a lengthy treatise on CFA (Franco's brand of martial arts) and a bloated glossary that seems in my opinion to be aimed at helping the book appear more dense and comprehensive. It's far from comprehensive, however. Although Franco's suggestions appear to be solid and based on reality, there is very little meat to this volume. Despite the title, there's very few actual techniques listed (telling someone to buy a good blade is listed as one of the techniques? Huh?)I was hoping for something that would add to a knife wielder's arsenal for street defense and combat but I came away with very little. Perhaps my own familiarity with knife experts like Michael Janich and Bob Kasper and the suggestions of combatives notables like Kelly McCann and Lee Morrison have created unrealistic expectations, I don't know. Guess I am just a little surprised considering that my past experiences with Franco have for the most part been very positive, though I have come across some disappointing titles previously. I give him credit for opening my eyes to real-world combat and I still believe he is one of the better reality-based instructors out there. I just wish this one here would have met these expectations. So, would I suggest this? Depends on who you are. If you are a rank beginner to knife fighting, I think you will learn a few things and will at least know that you are being pointed in the right direction. If you're a Franco fan like me, I guess it's not too bad to add to the collection. Everyone else should probably look elsewhere.

Promises More Than It Delivers
Mr Franco spends much more time promoting his CAD self-defense system than he does presenting the promised 10 best knife-fighting techniques. Indeed, I would be hard put to it even to name more than 2 knife-fighting techniques discussed, stabbing and slashing, both of which are instinctive ways of using an edged weapon. This book was a waste of my money.

This is totally worthless garbage!
Please don't waste your hard earned money! Most of the book is about him selling himself and his organization. There is nothing in the book that you couldn't found out in 5 minutes on the internet. Perhaps if you tucked the book into your pants it may provide some protection from a knife, but it is a small book and would cover only a small area. Just like the content of the book, it will provide very minimal information and be no help in a actual dangerous situation.

Simple, Direct and to the Point
This is my first introduction to the author and I purchased the Kindle version. For the money, it is a great value. The information is simple and straightforward, and that's the strength of it. Too many martial arts texts and blade-craft works can get overly complicated and sexy, perhaps to offer something new to its consumers. In comparison, this book discussed common sense philosophy and included excellent examples for developing a sound foundation. There are a few pictures and they are clearly illustrated and are helpful to support the material discussed.I served in the military and I am also a martial artist. It is imperative that techniques are combat-oriented and realistic. The overload of adrenaline and hormones that happen in violent encounters necessitate that a person rely on how they were trained and that can't be overly complicated or filled with moves that look great on TV but will get you maimed or killed in real life.I recommend this book for sure as a great introduction and foundation for learning some useful knife-fighting techniques and training drills. The Kindle version is also a bargain price.

Great Book for those early to knife fighting
Review “The 10 Best Knife Fighting Techniques” by Sammy Franco“The 10 Best Knife Fighting Techniques” is a great little book. There is so much more here than just 10 knife fighting techniques. While this book alone will not make you into a great knife fighter, it will lay many of the basics from attitude to simple techniques. As the book states repeatedly, you really have to learn knife fighting from an expert. But with all the knife fighting survival concepts, the knife fighting training tips and other fascinating applicable material, this is an excellent read and will prepare any interested person for their first class. I would even recommend it for those who have learned basic skills under tutelage of an expert for a good review of the necessary attitudes to controlling fear, to options to fighting, to some basic non knife survival fighting techniques. There are even some recommendations for non knife fighting survival fighting techniques. The book is well formatted, well laid out, well and clearly written. The images are all right on point demonstrating and clarifying many of the important concepts.Excellent preparatory book for those moving into occupations that will require knife fighting skills, such as law enforcement.Sammy Franco has written several other related books and has the history and qualifications to write this book.

Difficult to review
It’s a very difficult subject to write about and even with the really excellent training methods the author advocates, one can become too complacent, because one doesn’t get the true fear of really being cut. Even military training, which keeps things to basics because of only being left with tunnel vision and gross motor skills can’t prepare one for actually using a knife. Not many go toe to toe, as one already has lost the ambush lead. It is a fearsome weapon and most of the preparedness is a mental one and always should incorporate an ambush! There’s nothing wrong with the author’s practice methods as it builds muscle memory, but hard hitting hard targets and a hanging lump of meat is also a must, as is ambush training. Importance of strong knives with a fighting blade and a good grip is not discussed enough. This is at best average, like many other books on the subject, but a little better than most.

Not impressed
If someone decides to attack me with or without a knife THEY will choose the location, the time etc. I won't have a knife I won't decide where or what I will be doing, escape routes etc. I bought this book for knowledge in what to do if I was lucky enough to notice the attack before it happened. Or survived the I initial grab and stab. It's like reading a book on how to defend against a sucker punch in a pub. Sorry your going to get hit. I've never been in a knife fight or stabbed but I've been punched numerous times in the street. Never saw it coming but I took the punch then fought back.
