A Concise Practical Book
This a concise book about the business side of voiceover work. The author includes suggestions on developing your voiceover skills and taking care of your voice, and he gets into the specifics of setting up a home studio and finding work.A 25-year voiceover veteran, Webster dispels any notion of getting rich quickly. The book methodically takes you through the steps of creating demos of your work, getting an agent, auditioning, getting paid and joining the actors’ union. He states the approximate pay rates for union and non-union work, within such categories as radio commercials, TV commercials, corporate work and video game character voices. Webster also explains how to vary your delivery when voicing the different genres. In his chapter “How to Be a Professional,” Webster recommends professional training, creating a website to demonstrate your work, networking and working with an agent. The book has an entire chapter devoted to training and developing your voice skills. In the chapter, “Taking Care of Your Voice,” Webster shares some of his own tips to keep his voice in shape, even to the point of stating the type of sour apple slices that he takes to the studio to help keep his voice smooth during the session.Demos are an important part of getting work, and in the chapter, “How to Make a Killer Demo,” Webster discusses how to work with a demo producer, where to listen to demos of other professional voice-over actors, the best lengths for different kinds of demos and his take on fake accents (avoid them). The book includes two chapters on setting up and recording in your home studio. Here you’ll find suggestions for purchasing certain pieces of equipment that are professional but won’t break the bank. He discusses how to use phone patching via the Internet, so that your client can direct your voice delivery and how to use recording and editing software, with screen shots and drawings clearly showing each step. Webster discusses some room construction techniques and even includes options for recording in your closet. This book also serves as a resource guide with practice scripts and link to a website that the author developed for readers, VoiceIntoMoney.com that includes software downloads, tutorials, business templates, and information about agents and union rates.

It’s fine but needs proofreading
Overall this is a very impressive how-to for anyone interested in pursuing a career (or secondary income) as a voice actor. What prevents me from giving the book off for five stars is that it was not professionally proofread. I would encourage the author to take this off of create space and have it edited. There are some obvious spelling errors and grammatical errors and it’s very detracting. It concerns me that your competition will exploit this. Otherwise I think this is a very succinct approach.

I recommend this book highly
Update-I've recentlyshared this book with a few colleagues in the industry. We all agreed that this book makes things easy.I've seen other books on this topic that make setting up home recording ridiculously difficult. Not this one. Makes the whole process very simple. It's an easy to follow, clear, thorough yet concise guide. Mr. Webster clearly knows what he's doing and has conveyed it well. This is a well-written and informative guide to acheiving success in the voiceovers. I have been involved in radio broadcasting and voiceovers for over 30 years and found this book to be a practical guide to the voiceover industry. I recommend this book highly.

Great Guide to the Voiceover Business.
So glad I found this book. I am new to the voiceover business and I especially appreciated this book for its instructions on how to set up a studio, what to charge, and how to get started. The warnings about how to deal with agents was of particular interest to me and very helpful. I am a lot more confident about getting voiceover jobs after reading this guide and I will soon have my first gig!

Good Overview, but Discouraging
Good overview of the industry, but Webster writes it as if he is actually trying to discourage as many people as possible NOT to come into competition with him.
