While inexpensive it seems to do the job accurately - hopefully for a long time.
All is written above.

Loud ticking but works great - super helpful for toddler
I bought this as a visual timer to help my 1.5 year old with transitions to potty time, lunch time, bed time etc. It's working great! She can see how much time she has left even though she can't count time yet. The timer is loud enough to be heard even from another room if she walks away from it. It's small enough to toss in the diaper bag and take with us wherever we might go. This thing has saved me many, many tears during transition times. When I tell her we're going somewhere or have something we need to do (use the potty, get ready for bath, prepare for lunch, clean up toys etc.) she asks me for the timer to be set. I like this MUCH better than the hourglass timers because it makes noise when the time runs out. The hourglass ones don't. However, I will say it's quite loud. It took my toddler a week or two to adjust to the noise. In the beginning, it startled her and she came running to me when it went off. Now, she's comfortable with the noise and it doesn't scare her.I don't like the ticking though. The entire time this timer counts down it ticks (pretty loudly). If it weren't for that, I'd say this timer is just about perfect.

Doesn't ring when it's done
Kinda useless since the ringer goes off at random times as it counts down but not a then end. Looks nice though

I wanted to love this timer but the alarm is so poor I can't recommend it.
I really love the way this timer looks, the usability, the fact that it's purely mechanical, how strong the magnetic attach is, and how vibrant the display is. And I really wanted to recommend it to all my friends and family but the alarm bell is just so terrible that unfortunately I can't recommend it to anyone.Let's say you want to boil some pasta. You go ahead and throw in your pasta and you twist the face of the alarm, showing a red time indication, that allows you to easily set the time, normally you have to set it for longer than five minutes for it to work. And then you can hear it clicking and counting down. So everything is going well. About 30 seconds before your time is up it'll start to ring its bell which last approximately five seconds and then the device continues to tick for another 15 to 20 seconds before it finally ceases all life. So you got five seconds of the bell ring while it still had more spring tension in it and the bell isn't even that loud. If you were expecting this to alert you for food you better be standing right next to it, already paying attention. If you're in the next room, forget about it you'll miss it. Which shocked me the most was the fact that it stopped ringing but still had spring life, you can hear the ticking. I expected it to keep ringing until the entire spring mechanism was out of energy. That is it should ring until it dies. It doesn't even do that. I love the design so much if the manufacturer just improved this to at least run the alarm for 15 to 20 seconds maybe even half a minute with the ability to just shut it off by twisting the face to zero, then I would recommend it to everybody. A five second alarm doesn't cut it. I'll keep using mine but sadly I can't recommend it to anyone I know.

When Digital Just Won’t Do
It was a sad day indeed when my 1980s-vintage, lemon-yellow, RobertShaw Lux Minute Minder wind-up kitchen timer broke. I opened it up to try to fix it, but the complicated set of gears, cogs, springs, wheels, levers, screws and other tiny parts inside mystified me. I had no idea where the small bent-wire spring that was loose inside the case (clearly the cause of the failure) belonged, and the Internet was no help. So I replaced it with a battery-powered digital timer that does the job, more or less, but far less conveniently than the old classic. That’s why I jumped at the chance to order this VXYW (whatever that means) mechanical timer when it showed up in my Vine queue. The three-inch-diameter face has relatively large, legible black numerals on a white background surrounding the time scale, which is divided into one-minute increments. A pull-out stand on the back, along with a flattened area on the bottom of the case, holds it at a good viewing angle on a horizontal surface; there’s also a hook to hang it from a nail, and the back is strongly magnetic so it sticks great to a refrigerator or whatever. The plastic case has a slightly rough texture for a good grip with wet hands; the stainless-steel timer ring, not so much. I especially like how the red area on the dial progressively shrinks with the countdown, so it’s visibly obvious from across the room how much time remains.I tested it for accuracy, and it’s spot-on. The hammer-clanging-on-a-bell alert sound when the time expires is brief and not especially loud, but its vintage mechanical alarm-clock character is sure to attract your attention. Of course, it can only time up to a maximum of one hour, but my old one had a similar limitation, and that was never an issue. Be aware that you first have to crank the dial around to or past the “55” position to wind up the mechanism before you set the time that you need. This timer is well designed, seemingly of high quality and works exactly as it’s supposed to. I still wish I had my RobertShaw timer, but this one is the next best thing. Best of all, it doesn’t need any batteries! Five stars.

The ring is too quiet!
The media could not be loaded. Doesn’t ring loudly or for more than a single, muted ding. Maybe mine is defective, but the first time I used it in the kitchen, I missed it sitting at the table only a few feet away. So the whole point of having a timer is defeated if you can’t hear it once it’s done! I tested it again, and now it doesn’t ring at all. Otherwise, this would have been a great timer. The magnet is nice and strong, I like that it can also stand up with the back stand, but not ringing or ringing super quiet it a dealbreaker. It’s being returned. I’ll have to try something else
