Armor 2-Gallon Stainless Steel Pump Sprayer for Water-Based, Solvent-Based, and Acetone-Based Sealers, Coatings, and Cleaners

After going through a couple of cheap plastic sprayers that couldn’t handle solvent-based sealers, I splurged on this Armor 2-Gallon Stainless Steel Pump Sprayer. It has been worth every penny for my DIY projects. The build quality is immediately apparent – the stainless steel tank and brass wand/nozzle feel solid and professional grade. I used it to apply a solvent-based concrete sealer on my driveway, and it performed flawlessly. The spray pattern was consistent and even, making it easy to get good coverage without streaks. The seals and hose on this sprayer are clearly made to resist harsh chemicals; I had no issues with leaks or degradation, even using an acetone-based product. Pumping it up is smooth and it holds pressure well, so I wasn’t having to constantly re-pump while spraying a large area. Two gallons is a nice capacity – not so heavy that it’s unmanageable, but enough that I didn’t need to refill too often. (I did use the shoulder strap to help support it when it was full; that helped with the weight.) Cleanup was surprisingly easy: I ran a solvent through it to flush everything out, and because it’s metal and quality components, I’m not worried about it deteriorating between uses. If you’re tackling any serious sealing, staining, or painting jobs and have been frustrated with flimsy sprayers, this Armor sprayer will make your life a lot easier. It’s durable, efficient, and up to the task for both water-based and solvent projects.

We use this sprayer multiple times a week in an industrial manufacturing setting. Our company is extremely rough on this type of equipment, and we need it to work consistently. We tried multiple different brands before we found this one. The other brand sprayers that we used claimed to be solvent resistant but they still only lasted for a few uses before becoming unusable. Added benefit of this sprayer is the price point, but for how much product we put through it price point is not particularly relevant for us. The newer "hybrid reactive" concrete sealers (siloxane infused acrylic sealers like DecoGuard and Amour AX25) require some seriously tough sprayers to hold up to the carrier solvents they use. These concrete sealants themselves have come a long way from the old days, and for sure produce a better finished product than ever before. If you have not used one of these new hybrid sealers and you are in the concrete industry you are missing out. You just need to make sure you buy the right sprayer for the job. I can confidently say that this sprayer is the right sprayer for the job.

Two minor peeves preventing a 5-Star rating. First, the pressure gauge is becoming opaque and difficult to read after only the second use. Loikely some product/moisture is seeping in; properly sealing it within the tank should correct it. Secondly, the pump takes a bit of jiggling to extract. Otherwise, a quality tank. Highly recommend it.

I used this sprayer with lacquer based sealant on concrete pavers. First thing I did was read the instructions and change the pump O-ring to one of the two provided Viton O-rings. These O-rings are recommended when using solvent based liquids. The sprayer worked flawlessly. My first project was to correct a foggy over spray on 600 sq. ft. of concrete pavers caused by using an airless sprayer before having purchased this sprayer. I applied lacquer thinner with the spray nozzle in a circular overlapping motion keeping the pressure between 25 - 35 psi. The spray nozzle put out an even spray with no ponding. This restored the sheen to the pavers and made me happy. My second project was to spray the remaining 400 sq. ft. of pavers with the lacquer based sealant. Again spraying in a circular overlapping motion at 25 - 35 psi, the sealant laid down without over spray. Although the sprayer is expensive, it did the job that my airless couldn't. Having the right tool for the job made all the difference.

Very disappointed with this. I tried using it with the AR500 High gloss solvent base acrylic sealer and it was a disaster. It is definitely not capable for that material, the fan tip was making music graph's all kinds of lines made me so 😡

Sprayer worked great. Made from quality materials. Customer service was super.

I followed all the directions carefully with prepping and did a thorough cleaning of the sprayer immediately after use, but I was only able to apply the first coat to my driveway before it stopped working properly. I ended up having to finish the first coat with a roller, and couldn’t get it to flow at all for the second coat. When I emailed the company for advice, I never received a response. The materials seem good quality, but the product does not function as advertised. The capacity was decent, but it’s very hard to spray evenly without leaving visible lines where the spray overlaps. Spent about $1000 for sealer and sprayer and wasn’t remotely happy with the results. Overall, terrible value for the money spent.
